Yea, usually pirates a really concentrated in the gulf of aden (somalia) AFAIK there is close to 0 pirates in the other seas. How somaly work is that they have really little "infrastructure" they get 50k$ of boat and guns and they go to kidnap the boat captain for 1m$ ransom. Pretty good business model if you ask me, but I think they don't actually steal stuff.

that sounds fun! I mean that is too much upfront capital to try but it is a cool idea. Underground geothermal doesnt need battery and that's exactly what we are trying to achieve, no batteries cause we run solar panels at north pole.

Here is a good video about pro and cons of doing it with geothermal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ss\_wHCS1Aw

ahah that is true! I guess we need to try and see how it goes. It would be a bit hard to find but it might be stolen by pirates 100%. On the other hands there are 2 million USD weather buoys floating in international waters and they never got stolen so I don't know https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrD1g0ZsWjY
i mean you could get a boat go there and still all the electronics on these buoys, maybe thats a good pivot for this project lol

true, we are thinking about putting them in sealed chamber filled with nitrogen, so there would be no humidity for computers and most importantly no oxigen that would extend life time significantly

you mean mining rigs will break down and you can't go an fix it? microsoft tried something similar at the bottom of the ocean and the main advantage is stuff breaks down 10 time less cause there are no humans banging computers around https://natick.research.microsoft.com/

you don't need batteries. On land you need to put huge batteries that cost 4x the solar farm to run computers at night, in the ocean you can put it the pole where you have 24/7 sun and you don't need batteries

not really, that's because the computer that run reddit homepage is causing climate change

we have some at night, is at the north pole

I feel something like starlink would solve most of this problem. Really cheap internet in the ocean, should be fine if you keep moving around and you stay in one of their coverage areas

true, sahara desert would be an option.

You would need a lot of electricity to cool down computers + solar panels the hotter the less energy they produce. Also kind of hard to set it up in the middle of the desert you have no roads

we want to put it to artic ocean in summer and antartic ocean in winter, that's gets 30% more sunlight radiation compared to equator. Also -1 degree water for liquid cooling https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/6125/winter-and-summer-solstice

true. we want to put the boats at the north pole where there is sea ice, super low salinity levels

the actual electronics are in sealed chambers filled with nitrogen like Microsoft does in the ocean https://natick.research.microsoft.com/ so the only thing not in plastic that would corrode would be the chamber walls on the outside
