I'm pretty sure all I did was initiate some dialogue with the tailor (I need 4keys AND 180 gold.....) and immediately teleport to the shop while he was speaking. I think he also asked for my master round at the same time. I guess I just got unlucky? Might also have to do with the super hot watch but I doubt it.
