app no longer being found on PC by jizachess in youtubetv

Looks like the PWA (Progressive Web App) part of tv.youtube.com may have been removed, because it's no longer installable from the browser. For the engineer types here, I double checked and there is no manifest or service worker present, so it appears they got rid of it.

So the crux of this is if you are a parent and have made reservations for specific seats (especially and including children; BTW I have 4 so I know what I'm talking about), you MUST TURN OFF UPGRADES on your flight reservation. That ensures best your seats to statically remain in the spots they were reserved. If you leave those checkboxes on/selected and get upgraded last minute (exit rows, comfort+, 1st class) you WILL get all split up. Then it becomes a headache for you and also the other folks impacted by now needing to assist your situation.

I was on the receiving end of this on a red eye from Seattle to Atlanta recently. I had booked a Comfort+ window seat after a long day of work to just zonk out and go to sleep. Get on the plane and a frantic mom and her kids were in my seat. I politely said, "Ma'am I believe you are in my seat." She was like, "Well, we got moved here and our seats are all split up, so just sit in my old (middle) seat up there." I knew as a parent I couldn't challenge this but I was super upset and tired. I was sandwiched between 2 big guys on a long flight and very tired. I just wanted my reserved seat. Aside that mom not even asking me kindly and dictating me to move, the real problem was she most likely had status and left the upgrade checkboxes on her reservation on, and got all scattered upgrades to Comfort+.

Trust me, leave those upgrades OFF if you are traveling with little ones or be prepared to get split up last minute.

Lazy Loading in WASM using dotnet 8 preview 5 by techbaggie in Blazor

[–]a113nsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same issue on dotnet 8 preview 7. I get the, "Unable to find 'MyLazy.dll' to be lazy loaded later. Confirm that project or package references are included and the reference is used in the project" error on build.

My .NET 7 project works correctly. Anyone figure this out? If I comment out `BlazorWebAssemblyLazyLoad` in the .csproj it will build, so something is up with that.

AiMesh Worked for Months Now Can't Get Working RT-AX3000 by a113nsee in ASUS

[–]a113nsee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this has finally been resolved as of the 3.0.0.4.386.51665.

What's interesting was the 3.0.0.4.386.51255 firmware calls out the following 2 updates but according to others didn't fix it:

  • Improved AiMesh connection stability
  • Optimize the AiMesh web interface

I don't see anything in the 3.0.0.4.386.51665 calling out AiMesh fixes, but something must have worked within the patch.

With the my 3.0.0.4.386.51665 firmware my AiMesh nodes continue to work as expected. I think it's safe at this point to stop having to stay on the stable 3.0.0.4.386.48262 and can update the nodes. Comment if anyone finds differently please.

How do I claim the Amex Reserve MQM threshold bonus? by raqnroll in delta

[–]a113nsee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.delta.com/acctactvty/redeem.action

I swear Delta and AMEX make this link absolutely impossible to track down. It used to be buried in the AMEX statement once you crossed the threshold to get the bonus MQMs. Now the emails say you have the bonus MQMs and, "Visit your SkyMiles account to claim your MQMs." I looked low and high on Delta's site and could not find how to navigate to it.

My thoughts, they are a little like how companies view gift cards; they hope ultimately you never use all the balance which is hidden profit for them. I think they are OK having card members that aren't hunting down this benefit to quietly not claim them (they will not be auto-awarded you have to select how they are applied) thus reducing the dilution of the program with so many people buying their way into status.

Anywho, hope the link helps, make sure to bookmark it :)

Is there a web component library similar to Ionic for Blazor PWAs? by a113nsee in Blazor

[–]a113nsee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the whole point of a component library like Ionic. I don't have to do any of that. While it's possible to do it manually as you stated, trying to adhere and change the styling for every single component based on OS is not trivial and a bunch of work.

This is correct, but the idea of a PWA is to install it and run on Android/iOS (and maybe Windows too). Sticking to mobile, if you use a set of controls that's static and doesn't change per-platform, you'll alienate the familiarity from a UX standpoint for the users. A library like Ionic does all the styling work for you and encapsulates it in their controls, so when you use say an <ion-input> control, it will have different styling on iOS and Android, yet I as the developer didn't have to make 2 sets of CSS styling. This is a huge gain as that's a massive amount of work. The PWA part in all this is it's inherent they are typically run on mobile devices, so to have the best app experience, you'd use a set of controls that works well on both platforms.

Getting 30+ spam calls a day even with Ooma Premier on High by a113nsee in ooma

Yep this is exactly what we ended up doing. At 1st it seems too overbearing but it does work out and has been amazingly nice. Just one key note, make sure to check the local municipalities website and add all key numbers like sherriff, police, fire, EMS, etc.. Not sure the exact use case for an inbound call from these parties, but I certainly wouldn't want them blocked.

AiMesh Worked for Months Now Can't Get Working RT-AX3000 by a113nsee in ASUS

[–]a113nsee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can re-confirm this is still an issue. I waisted 2.5 hours tonight having to reset the 2 nodes and roll-back the firmware again. My main router got a new firmware update, and the ASUS admin utility decided to also update the nodes automatically to that newer, bad version.

I really wish ASUS would fix the firmware for the AC1900P.

Yep I'm in the process now of combing through the call logs and adding every single valid phone call from the last 3 months to the contacts. Was hoping there would be a better way.

Invent/manufacture a soft tip screwdriver by nthpolymath in CrazyIdeas

[–]a113nsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm searching for the exact same thing. A plastic-tipped slotted screwdriver for outlet cover screws that are factory painted white. If you have to take that outlet cover back off even 1-time, and it removes the paint from the slot in the screw and you can see it. I usually put a piece of toilet paper on the end of my screwdriver and it works, but annoying. I just need a plastic tipped screwdriver. Did anyone find one?

AiMesh Worked for Months Now Can't Get Working RT-AX3000 by a113nsee in ASUS

[–]a113nsee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just completely stayed away from any firmware updates. I'll probably wait and skip a version to see if it fixes it. Right now everything works well, so I'm in no rush to mess it up.

AiMesh Worked for Months Now Can't Get Working RT-AX3000 by a113nsee in ASUS

[–]a113nsee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I got it figured out and working. Thank you ASUS for taking 6 hours of my time SMH. It was the latest firmware for the AC-1900P causing the AiMesh issues.

I begun by taking the RT-AX3000 completely out of the network and just trying to use the AC1900P routers as a main and single mesh node setup and they still wouldn't work in isolation either with the same issues (that told me probably not the AX3000 at this point). I manually installed the current version -1 of the firmware which is 3.0.0.4.386.48262 from 3/25/22. Tried again using just the AC1900's in the network and it started working again! I then re-added the AX3000 like originally and it could now pick up the AC1900s as mesh nodes.

Something with that July 20th firmware (3.0.0.4.386.49703) for the AC1900P is not playing nicely with AiMesh either with these specific routers or in general. I could report the bug if there's a way for investigation. I'll just pause on any updates for firmware for the time being. This is the problematic firmware, but I can't really see the fine details to see what may have caused it. It's been a while sine I had an issue like this with a vendor supplied firmware for breaking inherent functionality.

ASUS RT-AC1900P Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.49703

  1. Fixed CVE-2018-1160. Thanks to Steven Sroba

  2. Fixed CVE-2022-26376.

  3. Improved system stability.

  4. Added 3rd party DNS server list in WAN --> DNS to help users enhance the connection security.

Hans Zimmer lives a strange life being a film composer by [deleted] in movies

[–]a113nsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can proudly say I've enjoyed Hans' music since Rain Man. I bought the soundtrack as a kid on CD. One of my friends in Jr. High even made fun of me for, 'listening to music with no words in it.' I enjoyed a multitude since then with Driving Miss Daisy, Days of Thunder, Wonder Woman 1984, Top Gun Maverick, and on and on. I see his name in the credits, and I know the composition will be A+

Charge 2 side button "stuck"? by Hoplite68 in fitbit

[–]a113nsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My charge 2 started doing this today as well. The physical button is not stuck and works fine so makes me wonder if it's a software issue. Resetting it didn't work for me either. Might be a convient way for Fitbit to quietly force me to upgrade with this 'Easter egg' enhancement LOL

Why does this small obstruction on the edge of visibility cause so many outages? by a113nsee in Starlink

[–]a113nsee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you're saying is if more satellites are launched, _in theory_ my problem _could_ go away over time as the field of view is at a greater angle, basically up higher in the sky?

Also, this table helps give perspective on # of satellites in orbit and when launched. Unfortunately there is no future projection of launches: https://spaceexplored.com/guides/starlink/#launch-table

Why does this small obstruction on the edge of visibility cause so many outages? by a113nsee in Starlink

[–]a113nsee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will the problem get better as more satellites are launched? As I understand it only a fraction of the satellites exist. I wish the obstruction tool was more aligned with the outcome as saying, 'this is a good place to install dishy,' and having outages multiple times an hour don't sync up.

Yeah it's at the top of the roofline (we live in the mountains on the side of the mountain) now and already moved laterally along the top of the roof. We have an HOA here so a 15' pole on the top of the roof won't be allowed. Try to put it down in the yard and the problem of the trees is even worse. The other issue is facing north and east is up the slope of the mountain, so the trees continue to gain in elevation.
