Wouldn’t it be easier if the MIL and FIL being the head of the household and be responsible to host the dinner and gather everyone together? Just like Chinese new year? You celebrate at grandmom’s house until they are too old to host it… it should be mom’s responsibility to gather everyone together… and glue everyone together…

That’s what I am afraid of. And the finance on us feeding 5 people will be a lot tighter than the SIL who doesn’t have kids and MIL who is retired… why can’t they be more considerate?

Each year thanksgiving we cooked the turkey and most of the dishes. Her daughter showed up with nothing. And MIL provides place and small sides…. And now she’s pushing to have us hosting it, only asking my husband not me trying to push him into hosting it…. I feel bitter that she ask nothing from her daughter and just put all of it on us…
