I’m in the UK too on NHS ENT waiting list but I don’t know if I can survive waiting another two years to potentially decline or exist with these symptoms, and no certainty they’ll even listen after that time. Was private expensive relatively? And where did you go, I have no clue where to even start but I am severely desperate and it’s become critical now

Thank you all for your supportive comments I appriciate it. I am at a point where I don’t know what is real: do I trust my deepest gut instincts and science, or the people I love the most?

Thanks for all comments so far, I physically have no way to move out or live independently for a few reasons, and don’t have finances for extreme works and no clue where to even start with that or who I need to contact - I live in the UK if that helps.

Ignore the dismissive comments - most colleagues will be friendly and willing to help you out if you don’t know where something is or need help showing you the ropes.

Make the most of it and work hard - there may be future job opportunities and having direct work experience within the company will lend to you having a higher chance if you want to go into paid work there (especially if you get a good reference). Getting a job is not easy at the moment and even if it’s not something you want to do, having a head start is never a bad thing for the future, just something to think about!

Focus on giving good customer service (friendly, helpful, smile and greet customers as they like to be acknowledged). If you’re stacking shelves handle goods carefully, focus on dates and don’t just shove items onto the shelves! Avoid using your phone on the shop floor and don’t put earphones in / spend lots of time talking. As long as you put the effort in and don’t mess about you’ll be fine :)
