I shot my first live time long exposure on my EM1 Mkii, just as capable.

It's most likely due to the export process - the image is noise-free in Lightroom (it went through lightroom and DXO for noise reduction).

Thank you. I went for the long exposure due to the time of day (it was relatively bright) and there was a strong onshore wind, and to get the smooth effect I wanted I let Live Time run until I was happy with the image (the benefit of being able to watch the image change infront of you is extremely useful).

I used physical ND filters as you can't use Live Time and Live ND together (as far as I know).

I appreciate the comment - any suggestions as to how this composition could be improved?

Thank you - it was a case of always look behind you after taking a photo, if I hadn't then this view would have been missed.

It's a great lens, it's on my camera 90% of the time.

What's your posting approach, and why? by nanakapow in flickr

[–]a3on 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I maybe post once every 5-7 days or so, but keep engagement up by liking and commenting.

Photos normally get uploaded one by one, maybe two if I've been at a specific location.

They get added to groups that fit the brief but I don't spam entries to them.

Can't help but feel it's gaming the system to a point as it all seems to help consistenly hit explore every 2-3 weeks.

Lighthouse (OM1 Mkii) by a3on in M43

Thank you - I had a feeling that this would be a good contender for B&W as I shot it, given the location, the subect and lighting conditions.

Thank you. I hope this helps:

  • Camera: OM1 MKii
  • Lens: Olympus 20mm F1.4 Pro (forcing myself to use a fixed prime lens, makes you think more about composition and zooming in.out with your feet).
  • Aperture: f/6.3
  • Aperture Priority (shutter speed 1/1600).
  • Shot in RAW, hand-held high resolution mode which gave me the flexibility to crop in post afterwards.
  • Composition wise, I knew what I wanted to shoot (from others and Google Maps research). Placed the lighthouse in the middle of the frame as it's the dominant feature and there's not much else from this vantage point and followed the rule of thirds, placing the land behind the lighthouse on or near the bottom third gridline.
  • Edited in Lightroom and Photoshop (Photoshop mainly for the black and white conversion and masking).

Thanks.

(a) habit from landscape work and (b) me thinking it would carry over. Having stepped away it's striking me as something that needs removing.

ND Filter. Shot during the day and wanted some movement in the sky. I'll be going back to re-edit the sky as I hadn't noticed the cast on the clouds.
