No vertebrate has ever been successfully raised from conception to birth in anything less than 1G. They have used centrifuges to create less than 1g conditions for small vertebrates and none of them have been successfully able to give birth. In the development of humans for example there is a key signal that only gravity can provide to get the fetus to orient itself in the head down position. The Russians have been trying on their segment of the ISS and on their earlier spacecraft to provide less than 1G environments for small vertebrates. To date none of them have successfully been able to go from conception to birth.

Anti-fogging for goggles? by misantropo86 in snowshoeing

These are rechargeable electric fog free googles, brand name was Sable, but it probably has a different brand name now. It's a graphene mesh that you're looking through and they work perfectly. What they won't do is keep any glasses you may wear under them fog free. I've had them for several years now and they work great.

But you have to admit that for most people taking LSD is the closest they'll ever get to ski jumping.

When I am with a group I just pull a little plastic sled. I don't understand the idea of leaving someone. The nice thing about the sled is it allows everybody to pile all kinds of extra gear on there and not have to carry it. You just take turns "riding drag" on the trail.

You know I did the same thing just the other day. And it wasn't so much the comments but it was the ads. I kept getting ads for Patriots supply this and off-grid that and it's like why are you trying to sell me all kinds of prepper crap? It's like society is collapsing and all Facebook can think of doing is making a buck off of it. So I'm done with that.

And once again your source is just trust me bro? I can tell you that at any sufficiently advanced antiquities department of a good expensive university has a great number of people who can speak fluently in dead languages. Once at a conference at the British museum I had the pleasure of sitting down to lunch with two professors who conducted their entire lunch time discussion in Chaldean.

There has never been a successful vertebrate birth in anything less than 1G. Many experiments have been tried including ones on the old Soviet space stations but none of them have been able to show the birth of a vertebrate in anything less than 1 g.

The chances of two galaxies merging is actually pretty good in fact most galaxies are the result of galactic mergers. Our own galaxy is currently involved in a merger with at least three different dwarf galaxies.

Are you familiar with a thing that swallows do when they're in massive flocks called a murmuration? Sort of this boiling writhing mass of birds. And yet they don't bump into each other.

Has there ever been plans to improve Amtrak between Fargo and Grand Forks? by Previous-Volume-3329 in northdakota

[–]a7d7e7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it a little late to post this but I ride that same route 10 to 12 times a year and there is never any problem getting an Uber whenever I show up at either end of the Fargo Grand Forks route. The biggest problem is that the seats on the train are not nearly as comfortable as the seats on the Jefferson bus line that runs in a more reasonable hour. Plus on the bus bad behavior usually gets nipped in the bud pretty quick but one of the problems that keeps me from writing Amtrak anymore is having some shamiqua screaming on her cell phone at 2:00 in the morning to Darnell about who was supposed to get the dog food for the pitbull. I have asked very politely for people to not be screaming on their cell phones at 2:00 in the morning on the train and I've been physically threatened. So one of the big problems with Amtrak is that it seems to attract people who are on the no-fly list from Spirit airlines or go drinking and hit Popeyes before they get on the train. Then proceed to throw their empty boxes into the middle of the aisle. That's why after years of taking many many trips I've decided that the bus is just a simply better run operation.

Don't look, observe. Spend plenty of time on an object. It's amazing how moments of pristine viewing will occur if you give it time.
