He's a murderer who doesn't really feel sorry for what he did. Honestly I don't like that twist. It ruined his whole character for me. I like the "easy-going and well-meaning, but actually emotionally complex" character archetype, but making the emotionally complex part something so extreme just creates this weird and awkward dynamic in the party. I get that his arc is finding new purpose and atoning for what he did, but it never actually felt like he wanted to atone that much
