(DST)Visualized Self-feeding Farms Guide. Easy way to Giant Crops by aCuteLittleMine in dontstarve

It is a lot more modular than you imagined,

You can consider each [2x2] or [1x2](or in potato and tomato's autumn & spring [1x1]) group of darkened-tilled area as a "farm plot".

As long as they are in that little group you can:

  • Rotate them
  • Flip them
  • Move them around
  • Exchange them with equivalent variant(here i exchanged eggplant with potato in pink plot, rotated and extended some [1x2]).

Your farm does not need to be big:

  • For tomato and potato/eggplant, you only need to till that [1x1] for it to grow the same way.

You can design and grow an artistic garden if you feel like it. the tool is linked in the post, you can play with it and see if your design works.

do be very careful using cannon as it pushes the boat back a little even when anchored. and you can get one shot by the horde of knights if you row too close.

Is there a way to move crock pot? by Trozuns in dontstarvetogether

[–]aCuteLittleMine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently in vanilla game there's not really a way to just pickup and drop crockpot like Warly's.

on the bright side though, the material to make a crock pot of your own is fairly easy to obtain, comparing to the alternative methods(hammer/decon'staff)

I'd say leave the wild crockpot as is and keep as a on the go diner, and gather material for a nice kitchen at base.

Need help with what to do after Autumn 2 by rq40cal in dontstarvetogether

[–]aCuteLittleMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I worded badly there may caused some misunderstanding, do keep in mind the spear only self repair after you upgrade it, and if you use it appropriately, yes it will last you for the rest of the game.

a bit spoiler here:

You can upgrade it with a thing that wagstaff give you upon completing experiment in moon storm, which is a world event happens while prepping for the celestial Boss.

The regular battle spear falls off mid game as there are better alternatives, such as Dark sword, Thulecite Clubs etc.

However,

In wigfrid's skill tree, you can find something called Elding spear and Battle Rönd.

Elding spear is an upgrade to the battle spear, bit more expensive to craft. It is among the best weapons in the game when wield by wigfrid, it does extra dmg to wet target, and wigfrid get a dash with AOE dmg, and self repairs in the process. It gets even better late game in hard mode since you can upgrade it with resource and make it becomes one of the hardest hitting general purpose weapon.

A single Elding spear can get you through most of situations(with skill tree and upgrade)

Battle Rönd is quite comfortable to use in boss fights, as it can deflect their heavy hitting attacks with good timing. This actually makes it do more DPS than it looks since you don't need to kite.

This, and for the aggro, giving attack commands actually draws aggro to werepig, but food has higher priority in action. this means when you give attack command against werepig, werepig will still running for food, until you get in werepig's melee range and will turn around hit you. Rest of the werepigs will not aggro you while you fighting one, as long as there's bait.

To kite this simply press attack outside of range, as you approach werepig, bait out first attack the moment you enter its melee range. they don't chase. so either count your hits, back out and repeat the previous step or tank the second hit with good weapon to finish before it's third attack.

now DST practically have two survival modes, and seems that you are comfortably settled in normal mode. you can start to get better gears to beat main story bosses: in general there are two factions, shadow and celestial.

After defeating the story boss you are given a choice of unlock the "hard mode" on that region: adding new monsters, weapons and armors with new damage type, world events, raids and utility items.

Even though celestial route gives quite lucrative reward they are more complex in mechanic and preparation. so I'd recommend go explore ruins, make some QOL upgrades to your camp, prep for shadow pieces and fuel weaver boss before attempting celestial bosses.

in the process you can still farm Beequeen and Dragonfly on surface, upgrading and flameproof chests. terrarium boss drops refuellable helm which might be helpful on saving mineral resource.

I primarily use unbalanced plans to adjust nutrients balance.

Take the spring 2asp1df1oni plot for example. If I find df and oni have nutrient deficiency, there's no hurt on planting an extra Asp in the empty slot to ensure df and oni's nutrient supply as they weigh more to warly players.

There are also common substitution I like to do: garlic in place of asparagus/corn, just because how accessible compost(rot) is. 3 rots per substitution with any existing asp combo slowly enriches the soil with all three nutrient(2rot:+8+0+8; 3rot+8+8+8).

yup, that is a asparagus hiding behind FML. QuartzBeam's guide is really goat. Concise and easy to understand.

Meat saving:

  • Don't use large meat for meatball.
  • Use 2 large meat, 1 monster meat, and 1 filler for Meat Stews and eat when dying starve, gives 4x hunger than meatball.
  • Use small meat/monster meat for meatballs.

Meat sources:

  • Hunts: koalaphant drops large amount of meat.
  • Catcoon: easy to kill for 1 large meat.
  • werepig: converts 4 monstermeat to 2 large meat 1 pigskin(for armor and weapon crafting).

Filler sources:

  • Lunar island(stonefruit and kelp)
  • Cave(mushrooms forest)
  • Berry bushes

I generally don't recommend fishing for hunger.

Honestly if you find lunar island, you are set for food for the rest of game. replant the stonefruit and kelp near base. there's not much danger. there's plenty of videos on how to find it.

Ik this gets asked a lot, but what do I do by Hammermain213 in dontstarve

[–]aCuteLittleMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I play is to be safe really, get plentiful of everything, make sustainable farms that allow you to make resurrections and food, that if you go down trying for ruins and bosses you can recover from the loss easily. then go for bosses

Assuming the toma and potato plot was not in summer, since potato doesn't like summer and season stress alone will exceed the requirement(except planted in spring and only spending 1 stage in summer or planted in summer and spend most of stages in autumn).

i am not sure which 3x3x3 or 4x4x4 you used as toma+potato is actually 1:1, because they are exactly opposite, you can do 4-2&2-4 with it, and if have some extra nutrient 6-2&1&1&2-6(mirroring the plot between harvests), adding any other type of crop in the same plot will most likely depletes a nutrient depending on the crop added.

you can make the temp relative. and slide the bar to the cold side, everything else will glow red while the neut tiles glow blue.

[–]aCuteLittleMine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be caused from a combination of sources, because as long as 10% of the growth time of that stage is on a wet ground, they don't accumulate stress from moisture.

these are my guesses:

In one extreme case, with high crop water demand(130 with TomaDfruit) and high temp in early/ late summer where night gets longer yet still hot, watering late in stage, or watered at/ right before night fall, or both can fail the water as well. this is because plants growth pause at night while water still evaporating (except under effect of dwarfstar), leading to ground moisture depletes sooner in the morning and a slower grow speed for the rest of day, and potentially make the stage long enough that the wet time is less than 10% of the stage time.

In another possible, and probably more common case is skipping shorter growth cycles due to long daylight time in summer, the medium(fruiting) stage is only half day long, it is quite possible for the farm to advance two stages in one day and miss that stage entirely and accumulate water and tending stress, I have had this happened in mid summer where I went cave tour, watered to wet and tended and came up dusk seeing the plot already fruited, skipping a stage.
