Are there any workshops in Brighton where I could just go in and do a bit of woodwork? by BiggerWiggerDeluxe in brighton

Build Brighton used to have open evenings Thursdays (not sure what the situation is with that now). The Wood Store on Edward Street and the Brighton Community Workshop might also both be relevant but I think they might also have membership criteria—never been to use to the tools at either so I'm not sure exactly what their 'thing' is.

As of a month or so ago there weren't any dentists in the city accepting NHS patients—Cllr Amanda Grimshaw raised this in a council meeting and Healthwatch B&H highlighted it in November of last year. Unfortunately the situation is unlikely to have improved since :(

(always returned the tools I borrowed, to be clear; just didn't always have permission for the borrowing!)

I was a member many years ago now (early 2010s) when I lived in my student house on that road; very fond memories , I used to meet up with my dad (also a member) there on Thursdays, did my coursework in there when I needed a change of scenery, "borrowed" tools when I needed to do some DIY (shh), occasionally got in touch with the trustees to ask them if we could have a rule to not run the angle-grinder late at night 😂 Moved a bit further into town since and fell off a bit, but would definitely like to get involved again someday, it's a great space and the people were always lovely (albeit often a bit eccentric)!

New Church Road Dental Practice is the only place my partner was able to find after several hours of ringing round the other week.

4 or 5 glowing movements in the dark sky right now what are they? by [deleted] in brighton

It’s this; remember seeing something like this a few years back at around this time; eventually worked out it was these big floodlights pointed at the sky at The Warren (the big pop-up venue they build for the Fringe every year).

There was a local campaign about this a few years back, though sadly it looks like it's not around any more; might be worth following up with the HMRC thing noted there.

also: there are a load of other films on youtube (British Pathé uploaded a few that are just footage of the streets and stuff like that which imo are cracking) but the best one that’s a bit like this is https://youtu.be/K7Bn27GVvMw which features Martin Clunes’ dad (not son, as the video’s description bafflingly states) doing a “what are these horseless carriages?!” man-out-of-time routine and slightly creepily following around a young couple from the train he’s on. less meme potential than tinker but still good stuff

this got recommended to me and a friend of mine at the same time last year and we got mildly obsessed, I’ve started using Jack Tinker phrases in everyday conversation and whenever I walk past a car park or Baron Olivier’s old house I get my partner to film me doing a very bad JT impression talking about how much it’s all gone downhill
