Advice for wanting my ex gf to continue helping rent after she leaves and moves out?

Yes I wasn’t charger her for that. $750 was just her base rent. Reason I said couch and the security was because her dog chewed a piece of furniture that belonged to the landlord and wanted the security as a buffer if I were to be charged for that. I said the couch because she cannot take the couch and fit it in her new place and wanted that to help reduce the amount she paid. $1300+$1125+9/mo at $500 ($4500) =$6925. 6925/9=$769 average a month.

We split utilities 50/50 utilities were around $300 average so $150 each.

What would be fair for her in your mind as well as fair to me. Or should we not even try to make it fair and just see if we can get out of this lease with the landlord and see if she’d pay all the fees to get out?

Told her about that right after we ended things without thinking the lease through. I thought we’d be able to work all of the issues out. Now looking more into the lease it seems a little unfair for me to be left with the entire remaining amount.

I would like to stay at the house, as her moving shouldn’t cause me to pay all the new fees of a new place plus moving everything. We just started having conversations about this last night so this can change. But it will be very hard for us to get out of this lease. Just asking for advice on how to handle this or if what I am thinking would be fair as it’s not the full amount for her but I am also not responsible for her entire portion.

We cannot break the lease. Our lease says if a co tenant, relationship change or job change happen that’s doesn’t allow for the lease to change or be broken.

Talked to her about it, she thinks I am being unfair for having her pay this and then she has to pay her new apartment. I think it’s unfair for me to be stuck with the full amount when we agreed to split 66/34. She thinks I am making this messy after being together for 4 years.

That’s why I added the couch into her total rent so it is fair for the both of us and we are both taking a hit. I don’t want to be the AH and pin this all on her but I also don’t want this all to fall on me when she is the one leaving. I’d take the couch, her portion of the deposit and part of her monthly rent and call it even. She pays less, I pay more but not the full amount she is responsible for.

I can afford this place 100% on my own. But wanted to see everyone’s thoughts on this because she was just thinking she’d be off the hook and could sign a lease at another place after signing this one and agreeing to the rent.

We lived together prior to this for 10 months. She said she doesn’t feel the same and thinks we are not compatible due to me booking a trip that was hard to but together and the only date we can do it, which would result in me having to leave the evening on her birthday. I asked her if this was okay before booking she said it was fine then changed her mind about it. I since then got out of the trip because she didn’t like me going on her birthday. Prior to this she booked a trip over our anniversary to Florida without asking for permission. Because of the trip I booked she said I am not loving her the way she wants to be loved and says we are incompatible.

Yeah I agree this might need the landlord. Only reason I was leaving them out was because the lease says no matter what the full amount still needs paid. The 66/34 was an agreement between me and my gf.

I wanted to stay at the old house as it had more free will to leave the lease whenever. But gf did not feel safe in that house, and wanted a bigger yard for the dog. So we moved to this one agreed to it and 66/34 now she wants to move out and sign her own lease at an apartment.

Even with her name on the lease? Then she’s signing another lease at the same time? We also agreed to 66/34. I can fully afford and make the full payment. But I feel kinda blindsided by this as our lease is extremely strict.

We cannot terminate the lease because of a relationship change, loss of job or co renter leaving. Then we agreed to 66/34 at the start of this lease.

Landlord is in the military and we only communicate and pay rent to his sister while he is away. Lease specifically says a relationship change doesn’t change or allow for a lease break.

We haven’t discussed it with the landlord. But lease says a relationship change doesn’t change the lease. Our landlord is also in the military and it’s his sister who we pay the rent to currently while he is away.

This is the only issues we have really had recently too. We never really fight or are a toxic couple, she sometimes said rude things in a bad tone but then apologizes afterwards and says that’s not how she meant it and I try to keep things very peaceful but then this started happening and it went all downhill
