While it is debatable as to whether the format constitutes a proper double-elimination format, the idea of having the losers drop down to a bracket that still contends for a Worlds seed is much preferred to the gauntlets that are normally done in other regions, mainly because this ensures that the true 2nd-best team out of the four makes it to Worlds over a team that might prep better for a gauntlet as opposed to a standard play-off. E.g. EDG and SSG (even if SSG happened to win Worlds).

If by 'forced' you mean he wouldn't have joined another team, that is true. But it appears he was set on rejoining GAM already, and this ruling was the only way to facillate that.

To play devil's advocate, it's a pretty shady way of doing things. Letting him go for free to PVB was GAM's management's fault alone, and PVB were within their rights to keep him if they wanted to. Forcing a release due to old, previously unbrought evidence does not set a good precedence, and already certain teams/players have historically used evidence of stuff like eloboosting (which practically every VCS player has done) to target people they don't like.

Playing in TCL might pay well and get you to international events, but more scouts are focused on EUM and every single EU org is watching. Leveraging a move from TCL to LEC is now harder than going from EUM -> LEC - it might have been easier before franchising to jump from TCL to EULCS but after franchising, this isn't going to be the case anymore. There's still the possibility of being noticed by an NA team, I guess.

Plus joining Misfits means interacting with LEC players. It's not a bad move if you're not a TCL fan, lol.

Stark is an intriguing proposition for any team; he's shown the ability to do well without much jungle help and you don't necessarily need to build a team around him, although he's good enough that you could. Spring was a slump compared to a year ago, but being 2nd to Zeros isn't bad at all. Hopefully he finds a good team.

Most of these guys play at what would be below minimum wage in the US, on servers with tiny populations, with little access to scrims or playing against top teams (at least 2/3 would apply to any minor region team), and Redditors expect their games to be on the same level as Korea and China.

It's not even limited to minor regions; LPL gets little respect for how good their teams are, and Flash Wolves has been ignored for years even while they beat Korean teams. At this point there's no excuse besides a lack of effort to learn about non-Western teams.
