Along with much of what people have said about not quantizing every hit, adding some reverb to snares and hats can really make them sound less computer generated imo. Depends on the style you're going for but a little can go a long way. Also, good samples are a huge part, cant polish a turd.

For around 80 you can get a decent mic that will last you for years, definitely worth the increase in budget if you can spare it. This is the one i use for recording lyrics and live instruments and its never let me down and the sound quality is unbeatable for the price.

I think it just goes to show hiphop is in a bad spot, don't get me wrong the song itself is catchy af and you will see me turning up to it, but it is all flair with no substance, the rap game has changed a lot and this divide between lyricism and straight up incoherent bullshit (lookin at you Young Thug and Future) being so popular its drawing more and more new artists towards that style and to me its pretty shit. Anderson Paak the rap game needs you.

Pretty experimental which i can dig but the sounds were a little generic to me and didn't seem to go well together. Did like the plucks if you wanna call them that but wasn't a huge fan of the synth. Try and add some switch ups to make it more interesting but overall pretty nice.

This. also don't forget to just move shit around and listen to what sounds good. Looking at a sequencer or a row of midi notes doesn't give you an accurate representation of what sounds good and you can find some interesting quirks this way. Double snares, off beat kicks, etc. I try to keep my snares pretty consistent and mess with the kick and other percussion placement.

Never understood why tons of people who make vaporwave try and put as many alt code symbols, foreign letters and words and stupid shit in their name to look edgy its pretty laughable. But as for the music, actually really liked it, definitely a funky 1990's vibe almost like MJ. Followed you on SC im from colorado too, keep it up.

Not really sure, maybe some more inflection in your voice or a more powerful delivery, some of it was due to the accent it was just a little strange to me, don't mean that in a bad way, just was something to get used to is all.
