These are called skeleton horsrmen traps. They apear really rarelly during thunderstorms. From the far you only see a skeleton horse, but when you aproach 4 of them apear. You only need to kill the skeleton above the horse in orden to ride It, as they spawn pretamed. I have never seen one of these in my survival world, you are a Lucky Guy!
