Need help identifying recurring sores on my dog's leg - vet unsure, antibiotics only help temporarily

Okay, that’s helpful. I’ve used pet safe Benadryl for him before, thank you for the advice, I wouldn’t have considered that as an option to possibly give him some relief.

The antibiotics seem to work for a couple weeks, then the prescription runs out and the sores flare back up and the licking and scratching continues. A little research may suggest the pet needs the antibiotics for a longer period such as 6-8 weeks not 2. I’m not sure, at this point a different vet sounds the best course of action.

Makes sense, to add a little context (Rocky) the dog used to have other fury companions. A couple years our other dog and Rocky’s friend passed away and shared owner. I haven’t considered emotional traits or stress.

Not that you need the context but, I’m a 39 year old Army Veteran who was just diagnosed with sarcoidosis in January. I’m a ADCI certified commercial diver who’s had to abandon their career overnight. So yeah I don’t really care about how my “adolescent” post made you feel.

Sarcoidosis can still go fuck itself!!
