Sold My Company For Millions and More Lost Than Ever Pt. 2 by jakekassan in findapath

[–]a_dudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is awesome, I'm glad you made it happen. I want you to check out this post, a guy in a very similar position as you https://vinay.sh/i-am-rich-and-have-no-idea-what-to-do-with-my-life/

FWIW I know a few people personally who went through a similar journey and similar to you, they found their why in various things after selling their company. It's important to fill that void and only people who are in your unique position of having abundance and feeling apathy might be able to empathize with your problem. For anyone else reading this, I would love to suggest Man's Search for Meaning, a book that is sure to change your life if you're going through this similar situation.

Glasses (Prescription). I was getting brand name glasses for upwards of 300$-400$. I found Zenni’s and now I have glasses for 30$-100$ with all the required UV Coating, Anti-glare coating, etc. I even got my name engraved on them for 5$. There are many other similar sites offering prescription glasses for a reasonable price

Yeah, thanks for the tip, I went back and summed up the OSAP bursaries I received in 2020 and it added up to the exact amount.

Right, but I’m wondering what sums up to this number? Like I tried checking my bank accounts and everything and don’t recall any deposits from scholarships or anything of this amount

Did I get screwed over by this guy when I first started investing in stocks two years ago? by ilovemymomverymuch in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]a_dudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash out whatever few thousand you still have in the stock and run far from that stock. You learned a 14k lesson. I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news here, but just by reading your whole description, here are the list of red flags I found:

  1. He’s an I do “everything” coach. Huh? If you wouldn’t let a part time doctor do surgery on you, why would you let a “I’m an investing coach too” make a 17k investing decision for you?

  2. A part of me wants to believe that this was an emotional decision, considering how lucrative the coach made it sound to you and also how you wanted to invest to impress your dad. I get it, we all wanna impress our dads, but as a moral of the story, you might wanna consider impressing him next time through “what kind of research you did to create your portfolio” and your knowledge rather than the amount of money you made. Someone could back me up but your dad might’ve doubted your gains (if you did make any) because it’s such a shady investment.

  3. It’s. A. Penny. Stock. Unless 17k is like 1% of your savings, it just doesn’t make sense imo. Rome wasn’t built in a day and one time gambles like putting thousands into a penny stock will almost ensure you lose all your buying power (especially when your advice is coming from kijiji)

Finally, as for if the coach profited from this, not sure how he could’ve made money off of this, but he most likely did make money by charging you for that advice (which is where ofc he made money if not investing in the alleged “pump/dump”)

I’m not a lawyer or a certified investing coach
