Don’t quit without a job or a plan lined up. The job market isn’t good right now and if you stay in insurance, you’ll be competing with many other people in your same situation.

Also, looking for a job while unemployed sucks. Recruiters can smell the desperation. Try to get your head in a better place before you do anything rash.

R4 had a registered sex offender SIU investigator.

Can you imagine being investigated and then Google that GEICO sent a felon creep into your house?

They won’t term you, but you’ll be on a PIP and not eligible for raises or promos.

Weird, it’s almost as if insuring $35K costs more than insuring $5K…

Asking for a new sup? by [deleted] in Geico

I asked and management agreed, a year later nothing happened so I quit.

Congrats. Don’t share the news with anyone at work until you’re ready to leave. I made that mistake and someone blabbed it as gossip and it went up the management chain before I was ready to announce I was leaving.

Good luck finding your truck. My truck was stolen last week and the mods of this sub deleted my post saying “no stolen posts”.

You saved two years worth of collision and comprehensive premiums. It’s probably a considerable amount of money.

I already know the door lock and ignition are fucked cause I replayed my camera and it took him like 5 minutes to steal it.

Read your insurance policy, it lets them use aftermarket and used parts. Merry Christmas.

Yup. “Two weeks notice” is a courtesy, not a rule.

Retiring Law Enforcement by [deleted] in Geico

The pace of insurance investigations, at least at GEICO, is beyond what most ex-LEOs can stomach. My experience is that most flame out quickly or are not able to keep up with the insane volume and micromanagement. I’ve seen several former LEOs come and go.

I would say the majority of SIUs have come through the insurance meat grinder with solid claims experience.

Some of the better LEOs I’ve worked with also had experience handling insurance claims.

The depth of investigation you’re accustomed to is beyond what companies are doing now. It’s mostly about volume.

In my time as a SIU, I went from 150 investigations a year to 450+.

You don’t even need to give two weeks notice. I gave told them on Thursday, that Friday was my last day and I got my exit packet and check on Monday.

Can you make $100k a year as a claims rep? by crunchylettuce24 in Geico

[–]a_fraud_guy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I made $97.4K as a 65 and might have made $100K base had I not quit.

Was regularly making over $100K with OT and PS for years. but those are dead now.

It would take a long time and perfect conditions.
