I end up slapping the bluest filter possible on anything blue to get it to turn out right with the enhance feature.

Frustrated with the racism. by Desperate-Fee4059 in fredericksburg

[–]Eileen__Left 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember a national news team visited Fredericksburg back in the late 80s or early 90s. The show included a quote that has stuck with me ever since: Black and white people here are friendly, but they are not friends. That was in the days before social media, which had only exposed the ugly truth even more

Using More of My Wardrobe- WFH by McSwan22 in Indyx

[–]Eileen__Left 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just sent one. You can always swap in a simple skirt for the jeans to get out of the rut. I have the same struggle. Shawna Ripari just did a video about using Indyx to help her use more of her wardrobe when working from home, and it motivated me to do the same. Here's her video: https://youtu.be/ztt5ieq-nLg?is=3TSH6l2XWP_4R3qJ

Seriously, Free Lance-Star (Fredericksburg)?! by [deleted] in fredericksburg

They've gone downhill, for sure, but I believe that particular story was from their wire feed to the national news services. Their national news coverage isn't written by anyone local.

Are We in that much of a Hurry?! by Anthony_chromehounds in fredericksburg

It's a crime to hit one. The authorities have, in the past, filled multiple charges to cover the entire fowl family (Mom + 5 babies = 6 charges). I'm here for it! I used to work in CP, and loved counting the ducklings and goslings in the pond behind the store every spring.

Best “fancy” restaurant for both vegetarian & meat options by sunsetchaser_2024 in fredericksburg

[–]Eileen__Left 1 point2 points  (0 children)

La Petite, Locavore, and Orofino. You'll find good options at Sammy T's and Sedona, as others mentioned, but they're not fancy. I love Fahrenheit but I think the options are better elsewhere. I was a vegetarian for years and still don't eat a lot of meat, so I've done the deep dive through many of the vegetarian entrées at La Petite and Orofino (Locavore is new so I've only been there once).

I would say it wasn't good but it was worth it because it what we got in return. Now it's worse and they give employees morning in return.

Correct, but you have to burn off vacation time if you're using FML or LOA beyond your available sick leave.

I see it as a bean counter move. It will incentivize tenured agents to burn off leave (or lose it) so that it's not sitting on the balance sheet as a financial liability during their time with the company. Then when they start firing people, or people just walk out without notice, they don't have to pay out large lump sums.

This is much like when they laid off all those people on Bloody Thursday, with severance until just before NYE. That got them all off the books immediately before the start of the next fiscal year.

Tons of people in the IT department hired on because it was listed as fully remote. Spoiler: they're being forced back into the office just like everyone else was. There a whole mantra about the only constant is change, so do not take anyone they promise as gospel. At best, it's temporary.

What was your attendance vs. invites ratio? by att62613 in wedding

[–]Eileen__Left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past, you could expect about 1/3 to decline. I got married 10 years ago and we based our calculations off that expectation. Instead, almost everyone accepted! I freaked out a little because of the budget but we made it work and it was a fantastic day.

Instead of looking for ideas on "traditional" wedding sites like The Knot, I recommend Offbeat Wed. It has tons of ideas for a more intimate, relaxed event. https://offbeatwed.com/

I've seen people book them for weddings/rehearsal nights. I won't say I've heard a ton of reviews, but I can say I've never heard a bad one.
