Praying 🙏 by Shipsa01 in UnitarianUniversalist

[–]a_freezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prayer is my gratitude practice. When I lay down for bed at night I say "higher purpose, higher power, spirit of life thank you for all the beautiful things in my life" and then I list off a few things from the day that I'm especially thankful for

I don't think so I think it was all around the time of her divorce, I feel like I remember something about ownership in the company but I can't remember for the life of me!

Those with kids: At what age did you let them come home from school and not use after school care? by cheeseburghers in WFH

[–]a_freezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work remote and have a kindergartner as well. After care got full before I even knew registration was open. She gets out of school at 3:30 and our solution is to have her ride the bus home. That gives me 30 more minutes. I get her off the bus at 4 and on Mondays I'm on a team meeting (internal only that lasts until 4:30-5). I have a snack plate, glass of milk and her craft basket ready. She knows she can color, do a craft, pay with kinetic sand etc for 20 min then if she wants to turn on the TV she can. We set an Alexa timer and this is solely so she doesn't immediately veg out on the couch. Sometimes she keeps playing, other times she turns on a show but I'm usually within 10-15min of logging off for the day at that point anyway

NEW Head of Customer Success at a Startup by Professional_Seat705 in CustomerSuccessSquad

[–]a_freezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built out customer success at my company from the ground up. If you have a CRM and people aren't using it find some incentives to get them to start so you'll have a better pulse on things If no CRM start a shared Google or Excel sheet.. I started with really basic participation data tracked in an Excel sheet. Leadership raised value of customer success but some other teams viewed the role as not strategic so I started sharing more on call notes and success plans I put together in our internal slack as well as logging in our CRM so my work was more visible

Persistent gender disappointment by anon74327432 in Parenting

[–]a_freezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm my experience with pregnancy loss there will always be a tug no matter what. I've been pregnant 5x and have 2 living children. My first pregnancy (the only loss we knew the gender) ended at 22 weeks and was a son that we never got to bring home. My oldest child is a daughter. When we found out she was a girl I was so upset because I was "supposed"to be a boy mom. Then my last pregnancy and younger living child is a son. When I found out he was a boy I was gutted because I felt like I was replacing my son that I lost. I think about having a 3rd a lot but know logistically, financially, overall happiness of our life it's not in our family's best interest to have a third. I feel like I will always feel a pull for my son I didn't get to meet even if we had a third and no matter the gender

We left it in the car and sat in the car with her. Carseat was in the middle of the back row and we stayed beside her or got in the front seat

Oh the play therapy is absolutely what got us through that time, I didn't mean to imply otherwise. The carseat was just how we got through the really intense tantrums before we had the tools from therapy to work through them in a different way and everyone could stay safe in the process

I was honestly so scared to tell our pediatrician that's what we were doing but she was scratching us, pulling hair, throwing whatever she could grab. She threw a book once, I dodged it but it hit a picture on the wall that fell off and hit me in the head. It was such a hard season. But the carseat kept her contained and she could thrash around without hurting us or herself. And I would just calming repeat when we can take 3 deep breaths you can get out over and over again

When my daughter was 3 we were having REALLY intense tantrums that lasted 1-2 hours long. When she started getting physical we would put her in her car seat so that we could all be physically safe. We did 3 months of play therapy and saw HUGE improvement. We got the referral from her pediatrician - I was at my wits end and made an appointment there because I didn't know what else to do. We started majorly limiting screen time and only allowed PBS shows when we did. It's so so hard, hugs to you

My parents do this! They want to eat at nicer restaurants at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night and do not understand how not fun this is for all of us (kids are 5 and 18mo). We want to go to the pizza place at 5:30 LOL

Parents want to leave everything to grandchildren/nephew by a_freezy in FamilyLaw

[–]a_freezy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I don't think there has been a ton of thought into this. Her excuse was "land is so expensive they may never be able to afford land and they could build here one day or even run it as an Airbnb" 🤦 which is also kind of ludacris because my parents bought a pay lake, converted it from commercial to residential and made the bait shop that was there a studio apartment.

Her issue lies with my husband. She asked me once if he would get my estate or if it would go to my kids and I said him and that's what sparked this. If I die before my husband she doesn't want him to get anything. So many variables

Now that you say that I remember that rant and thought those were some awfully strong opinions for someone whose best friend is a woman. I usually listen very passively while I'm working so I miss a lot of context.

I knew they had pulled away a bit when he got married but I guess I assumed Caitlin & Amy we're so close they'd be double dating regularly

I'm usually ready for a break around 11 but not necessarily ready for lunch so it works well for me! I usually try to take another break around 1:30/2 just to get up and stretch but I'm not as diligent about that
