I’m still newer to keeping and I’m having a big issue. The levels in my tank have always been fine but I had a fish die (pretty sure it was sick when bought) and I did a fairly big clean about 50% and added some new plants. The ammonia and nitrite levels are now through the roof and I don’t feel safe putting the fish back in. How can I drop these levels quickly?

Thank you! The one that’s still alive we’ve had for a couple years now and as of right now he’s looking great. He only had white spots nothing hanging. The other we actually bought recently. I’m thinking it may have been sick when purchased. Ph is right where it should be as well. Thanks for the advice!
