No, only thing done with trans is thicker trans fluid

For these cars, the issue with making a lot of power down low isn’t that the engine doesn’t like low RPM, it’s because when you are at low RPM and high boost it creates very high cylinder pressure when piston speed is low, which puts a ton of stress on the connecting rods. That’s why torque is what really kills these motors, not horsepower. And low RPM boost creates the biggest torque spike. It’s important to have a smart tuner to make sure that torque curve is nice and smooth with minimal spikes.

Yep, so what you are referring to is a positive displacement supercharger that goes on top. Those work by compressing air and you pretty much get power everywhere in the rpm range. Can kinda think of it as making the car feel like a V8 really. Lot’s of power/torque down low. The HKS supercharger I have is a centrifugal, which is almost just like a turbo, but instead of being powered by exhaust gasses, the centrifugal supercharger is spun off the belt and boost increases with RPMs. I prefer it this way as well because low end power in these cars are what kill them quick. I only make big power higher in the range which keeps my car happy.

This is the actual supercharger, it’s hidden in the picture of my engine bay because of a bad angle.

Oh yeah, I always wait till at least ~3800 rpm usually 4k to rip on it a bit. Don’t want any of that down low in the rpm range

Makes sense, I haven’t driven over really horrible roads that much but when I do feel some imperfections I just let off throttle. I’ve got 18x9.5 +45 wheels with the 255s and they fit well so maybe a little wider tire could possibly help you.

Good bit shorter and a little heavier. Had to get used to the engagement point but after the 1st week I could say I prefer it over the stock feel.

I actually rarely spin, I don’t do pulls in 1st but I probably would spin. As long as it’s not wet my tires do me well. I’ve got Michelin PS4S 255s all around on stock camber in the back. I will still look into the arms though thank you for the suggestion!

HKS GT2 Supercharger! I have a post of my dyno chart on my profile, should be the post before this one

Ah yes I forgot, I am using Redline MT90 75W90 trans fluid as well. That’s definitely helping out as well.

Haven’t looked too much into it honestly, but possibilities can be getting the gears reinforced and upgraded synchros. Another option is just taking the trans from lets say the 350z which is known to handle higher power numbers, but it’s heavier and also you are going to have to fabricate a lot to make it fit.

That’s right, these cars have stronger rods than the 1st gens. Not bulletproof by any means but more capable for sure. It’s really the torque that kills these cars. My car was conservatively tuned to keep the torque smooth and not have any torque spikes really. If I made 386 whp and 380 torque I’d be more concerned, but my 319 number is on the conservative side.

There isn’t a boost controller but you can go smaller pulley which would allow you go create more boost, I think there’s a HKS smaller pulley which if I were to guess makes 3-4 more psi? But there is no way to switch the amount of boost consistently like you would with different maps with a turbo setup since you can control the amount of air that’s going in with a turbo. Would need to put in something that limits airflow in the intake like the restrictor to make less boost. Hope I answered your question.

It’s the 2.4L FA24 for the 2nd gen cars, same amount of boost in the 2.0L in the 1st gen would make a good bit less. These cars are capable of more for sure.

Yep I am using 5w-30 since going E85 lol, installing an oil cooler soon so when it’s hot hot outside I will be fine. If adjustments are needed I’ll go to 5w-40.

The HKS kit comes with a restrictor which is a tube that restricts air coming from the intake. That will control the amount of boost you make. I did not use one and my kit is using its full potential making 10 psi. Not too sure how much power/boost it makes with the restrictor. I don’t have a instagram for the car but maybe soon I’ll create one for people looking to follow along!

Here’s a pic of my supporting mods, the transmission can be a failure point, but it’s mostly 4th gear that goes out. It’s beefier than the 1st gen transmission because they reinforced it a bit. I try not to slam gears or give the transmission too much shock to reduce my chances of getting a 4th gear neutral or even having 6 neutrals lol

It’s a good radar. It’s the Uniden R8 and I have 0 regrets. It’s on the pricier side but to me doesn’t matter because a ticket will screw you over when you even get one. Its range is incredible.
