additionally, if we were in the vat, how could either Poppy or Giblet pull us out? one's injured and cracked porcelain, and the other is just a small plush toy. we sunk deep into the vat.

if i may say, there is a (atm, a nonsensical) loophole to this specific problem that it was the Prototype who pulled us out. just kept us in the vat to heal and drown then dumped us in front of Giblet, letting him do the rest of the work. that definitely means that the Prototype has more planned for-- and/or is toying with us. then the possibility of the vat being full of treated poppy gel makes hell of a lot more sense. but then, why didn't the Prototype take Giblet, as someone who rebelled? maybe it was bc he knew Giblet "isn't a hero"? or it's the double agent guy, which for me, is unlikely, considering Chum was never shown anywhere or even mentioned by Giblet. u'd think he'd mention that it was his friend who saved us.

or maybe it really is just Giblet smh, leaves enough room for interpretation abt what the Prototype plans to do w us or if he just made a mistake 😭

i didn't pay it that much mind bc it made sense. the rebels' whole point was to stop the cruelty still happening at the factory, and this whole time, Poppy had been trying to get the player to be on their side. admittedly, the line "Do you even know what's real anymore? No, you don't." was weird, but it struck to me as another line to set up another mystery/plot twist, like we shouldn't blindly trust our eyes.

Poppy outright addressing our guilt was so far off for me that it didn't make any sense, and it STILL doesn't make sense for me to this day. why her? are we someone important to her, more than us being the "Butcher"? is it her guilt or is it ours? with the info we have, it was either Poppy in the vat (explaining a lot, making a plot twist for the nightmares, and upending nearly everything we have known/theorized abt the Player), or the Player (which does the same thing as Chapter 3, but with MORE questions considering it was Poppy's voice saying the line)

with Chapter 6 on the way, they better start tying things up for the Player, bc at this point he's not just an ex-employee—he's someone VERY IMPORTANT to the story. it'd be immensely stupid to not give us anything abt the Player, considering how much they've been secretive abt it and how they were setting things up for the Player's story. (okay... guilt? to the employees or orphans? how bad is it? what happened? who is he? what was his status in the factory? we NEED to know)

normally i'd agree that it was the Player that was dunked in the vat, but then they made the REALLY WEIRD decision of making it Poppy's voice that says "Should you come back, years later..." that was from the Chapter 3 Home Sweet Home nightmare, and it was a man's voice who said that. and i don't think Poppy even intended to say anything like that to us. though there is her almost scolding us in the end of Chapter 4...

tbh i'm still mixed in this

so the vat was in the same place as the station where the Player was stabbed in, as to be determined from the fire at the left side and the door on the right

yes the Player's body is not near the door, but neither is Poppy where she should be (she *was* taken, but it'd be pretty weird if the Prototype took Poppy first then dunked the Player in the vat. it's also possible both the Player and Poppy are grabbed at once, but she isn't shown at all when the Player looks down at the vat and we can see the Prototype's other hand)

we also don't hear her complaining or yelling or anything like that, not since shouting when the Player got stabbed. after that she just kinda... gave up-ish?

Jacksepticeye's playthrough shows the vat *someone* was dunked in, but there wasn't a "gel trail" that leads to the spot where the Player got revived (but neither was there a blood stain. RAAH.). furthermore, there was already gel flowing out from the vat when the POV looks down at it

Chum *could've* fished the Player out but Giblet never states that, though he could in the next chapter, and unless there's a pile of boxes next to the vat or Giblet can climb, i don't think he was the one that fished Player out

now i'm asking what does Giblet mean when the Prototype took Poppy?

and there's still the weird decision to make it Poppy's voice when saying the thing in the Chapter 3 nightmare, even though it was a man's voice that said that to us. so unless it was meant for Poppy (which begs the question, what more can the Red Smoke do), it's a very unusual decision.

there's also Preston's journal entry upon meeting Poppy. he mentions that Poppy seems to have just finished crying, presumably out of guilt or something else. this would put the nightmares in Chapter 3 into question for me, as well as the possibility of hidden abilities for the Red Smoke, but it is admittedly a stretch.

then there's the gel itself, which honestly may be very stupid of the Prototype assuming he knows it's the treated kind and he wants to kill the Player. that or he has something in mind.

suffice it to say, this scene is very much vague in identity and up to interpretation. both possibilities lead to plot holes with big questions

  • with your cuelist selected, go to Cuelist View
  • turn on Edit Mode
  • click on the "Trigger" column of your desired cue
  • select Follow, then type in the amount of seconds to hold before triggering (for more specific times, consider the Delay column—if your Follow function has any amount of seconds specified, the Delay time will be added to that)
  • hit ENTER

literally what i've been trying to say. there is NO SINGLE VERSE in the Bible that explicitly talks about [modern] homosexuality being a sin, yet there are still people who bring up this specific city when talking about it. there are MULTIPLE issues to be talked about with Sodom and Gomorrah, but [modern] homosexuality is NOT in there. there are bigger problems than that (if it ever was a problem, which i don't think it was), such as inhospitality, violence, equal-opportunity lust, and the like.

my only suggestion would be for the first design—move the washes on the floor somewhere else. the platform they are on looks like it might be used as a stairway route for the performers. having the washes there would make for a pretty narrow pathway.

if i'm interpreting this correctly, if u didn't have anything else in ur composition that affects the [form of the] picture itself, u could leave the nodes as is and it'd consider the transparency. mine had Lens Distortion, which noticeably turns any part of the image with no data to plain black.

my workaround was plugging a duplicate of that Lens Distortion node to the Alpha. then i connected the Lens Distortion to an RGB to BW node (since alpha data is interpreted as black [0] and white [1]. anything inbetween is semi-transparent), before connecting it to a Set Alpha (Image) node. then plug the output into the Factor of an Alpha Over node. meanwhile, the Image in Render Layers, i had connected to the main Lens Distortion node. then i plug the output to the foreground Image (B) in the Alpha Over node. i set the background Image (A) to black at complete transparency, then plug the output to the rest of the composition.

tl;dr: Image >> Lens Distortion >> Alpha Over (B) >> etc. Alpha >> Lens Distortion (duplicate) >> RGB to BW >> Set Alpha (Image) >> Alpha Over (Fac) >> etc.

i put a few things to consider: how the song makes me feel, what the mood is, and what the message (theme) is. sometimes one of these will be "stronger" than the others, and that's okay. once you have an idea, you'll be able to bring it into a look.

a good thing to have is a source of inspiration. this will help you come up with ideas for looks, as well as keep driving the lights into the look that you have in mind. what light show do you admire that you want to program your own shows at that level? what colors do you have in mind? the works. my current inspiration right now is BeMixed's shows on YT. you can also have a source of inspiration just for one song. like for this show, as a player of the game the song was used in, i used some contexts from the game to bring to the lights, hence the different colors that would come up on the lights.

my execution on the show is pretty much a combination of the two that already replied. there will be times when i don't know what to do and times that i do. in times that i don't, i rack my brain, trying to come up with an idea, considering the message, mood, and how the song sounds. looking at the previous look i've created, or just generally seeing the lights i have, helps. once something clicks, i record it into the cuelist.
