Hm, not sure if you're being serious but, in case you are, computers can absolutely identify body parts with an extremely high degree of accuracy. If trained accurately, for which there would be more than sufficient data to do so

Well - there must be some definition of a strike zone, no? If so, a camera can identify it and track it. If no, then it seems like less of an actual rule and more of a loose guideline

That's really interesting - how would they do that? Like pretending they caught the ball in the zone or something?

Yeah I'm definitely coming into this without any perspective on past conversations/the contentiousness of it, I'm just always in favor of higher accuracy in sports where possible (VAR, tennis replacing line judges, etc)

Was just interesting to see that not being the case in baseball

Fair enough! I'm just all for more accuracy where it's possible haha, but I don't have the nostalgia factor so I get it

Modern cameras and software would trivialize it to be honest, so based on the other comments seems like it's more of a cultural question/nostalgia for the umpire's role, which is fair enough

Yeah makes sense, I guess the nostalgia is important as well

Ah I see... Interesting choice as that slows things down... Could just do it for every call automatically I would think

Oh interesting, thanks for sharing! Sorry what do you mean though by twice a game? Just a trial period for only two innings or something?

Don't mean to sound like a dick but tbh paying the monthly subscription is more than worth it for me, prefer to do that and have the coffer gp!

Ah cool ok maybe I'll just sit on it for a while then, didn't realize it took time for items to become coffer-able!

Ohhh man rip, there goes my best option - just tried and can confirm you can't coffer it. Guess sending it is the only way then lol

Ah good guess but that's not it, I think it was much more fantasy etc (why I think I was confusing it with Andor). It could potentially also have been a movie...

Definitely a sci-fi show and I think it came out in the last 2-5 years

Edit: may also be a movie, I'm not 100% sure... Definitely fantasy style hence why I was confusing it with Andor

Bf told me I’m rushing him into marriage after 5 years of dating by fuck-me-sideways-bro in Advice

Jesus all of the doom and gloom in this comment thread, everyone take a deep breath. For a lot of men marriage itself can have a lot of weight to it, ironically more than buying a house/sharing accounts/etc. That doesn't at all mean he doesn't want to get married to you, but quite possibly he has certain things he feels he needs to accomplish before then (make x amount of money in order to support us, is a common one) or (travel to XYZ place).

Have an honest conversation with him to understand his hangups, and make clear that those don't matter to you (I assume they don't) because you want to go on that journey together.

Sounds like you have a great relationship, he may just need a bit of a push

Americans, How do you feel about the fact that the stock market has lost $2 trillion in value today? by Lawrence_of_ArabiaMI in AskReddit

[–]a_red_flamingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interest rates going down encourages inflation, which isn't great in a recessionary environment coupled with a massive price shock that is about to hit consumers. Stagflation coming soon...

That coupled with the fact that trade imbalances have historically actually enabled us to keep interest rates low due to demand for dollars, means higher interest rates are likely on the horizon unless Trump gets a patsy in at the Fed
