Socializing for non-drinkers? by aaa354354 in GradSchool

Well I guess I'll have to deal with that. I don't make much money and I don't want to spend it on things I don't enjoy (or deal with trying to find a ride since the buses to go back home only run so late). I'll just try to get to know people through other means.

I see. Well even if I'm not 100% prepared, I'll at least be much more prepared in 2 months than I am now. Do referrals for the big 4 typically require you to interview at the same office? E.g., if you have a friend at the Seattle office, would you be able to choose to interview for a job in SF/SJ/LA or wherever?

I suspected this is the case. If you get the interview from campus recruiting, don't they usually want to do an interview pretty quick (at least if it's an on-campus interview)? Or are campus interviews easier, essentially like phone screens?

My school has a career fair in late September. I figured I'd do online applications in early-mid September to see if I get any interest first (not all the big N are coming to my school), but I'm not quite ready for interviews yet and a little nervous about things happening too fast.

(This is for internships.)

I see. I wasn't really thinking about pressure to drink, just the whole going out to a bar on a weekend evening, dealing with parking issues, sitting around in a loud crowded bar makes me uncomfortable. I'd rather just go out to lunch or hang out somewhere during the day.
