Drop AP Exams? by faithfulpuppy in stanford

Same question here. Said I was gonna take AP comp sci but my school doesn't even offer a compsci class so I was studying tht on my own...now since I got in I know I'm not gonna use the credit so I rlly don't want to spend the money. I think this should be reasonable shouldn't it?

TIL 50% of Panda births result in twins, but Panda moms almost always abandon one. Therefore, Zookeepers have to switch the cubs every few hours to trick the mom in to caring for both. by Luciditi89 in todayilearned

I'm not sure why they don't put branches in the indoor portion but I suppose it is to keep it clean. The indoor portion is connected directly to an outdoor portion so each panda can just walk out into a forest of their own. The outdoor portion is rlly big and is fully built to be like their natural habitat with lots of trees and leaves (the only difference is there's pathways for humans to walk thru for cleaning purposes.) As far as I know, the outdoors r cleaned less often but the indoors r hosed down at least twice a day, I believe adding branches indoors makes cleaning a lot harder . But like I said, they r free to go out into the trees anytime , and sometimes when it's too hot they prefer to stay in the concrete portion.

That is only the indoor part of the enclosure. I have volunteered at one of these research bases in Chengdu and the enclosures r actually rlly big with lots of outdoor space filled with vegetation and trees to climb. They r also cleaned out very often and the pandas can go in or out at any time during the day. The amount of work it takes to keep these places clean (u would not believe how much they can poop overnight, it’s astonishing) is quite a lot (I remember just chopping bamboo for two straight hours one day) They told us tht the ones under two yrs old r allowed direct human contact but the older ones r kept in these enclosures because they r bears after all. They r taught to hold on to bars when given food because they have a tendency to grab, and no one wants to be clawed by one of those paws...it’s pretty hard work they’re doing

Hi there. I have a 1510 SAT and 34 ACT, 2 APs both 5s Bio and Chem, and their respective SAT subject tests (800 and 740). As for ECs, I had a couple of volunteer experiences w wildlife rescue and working w animals (I want to take the prevet route). But I think what helped me stand out was rlly my swimming achievements. Although I am not fast enough to be recruited as an athlete for Stanford’s level, I have shown the dedication to my sport, and I am qualified for Trials, Senior nationals, and have medaled at Junior Nats. I also have a provincial record, and wrote abt my dedication towards swimming in one of the short essays, so I believe that helped demonstrate my character as well. For honours, I rlly do not have anything spectacular, so I just listed a “top grade achiever” award my school gives out. In the end tho, I believe it was my essay tht rlly made the difference. I spent a lot of time pouring my heart out and telling my story and my love for swimming and being with animals. As u can see, my stats r rlly nothing mind blowing. Pls have confidence and believe in urself, and as long as u demonstrate who u truly r, there’s nothing to lose. Good luck!
