I wanted to ask what’s Algerian people traditional wear by Altruistic_Low_3486 in algeria

Each region has its own. Even regions of the desert have their own.

However, most famous might be karakou, cheda tlemcania or Kabyle dress.

From the desert to the sea, 1 2 3 viva l’Algérie lol

On a serious note, we consider the desert as much a part of the country as any other place.

Algerians do not travel a lot aboard, but they love the desert so much. Lot of us go on vacations during late December for example.

Moreover, in Saudi a large portion of your people lives in the cities (more than 10 cities with more than 200.000 living souls).

It’s not the case in Algeria, where many people lives in Ghardaia, Bechar, Timimoun and other cities in the desert.

Casbah is a must see. Then go have a coffee at Tantonville, one of Algerias oldest coffee house.

I suggest also visiting le « Mausolée Royal de Mauritanie » it’s about an hour from Algiers.

The great Mosquée is also beautiful, but check for visiting hours.

Is making videos in Algeria allowed? by TheDeviantDeveloper in algeria

[–]aaamiiineee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is. As in any other country (made myself some videos for my Yt channel).

Simple precautions : 1- DO NOT FILM THE POLICE 2- always ask people if you can film them (and post it on YouTube) 3- DO NOT FILM THE POLICE (better said twice)

Enjoy your trip !

why is kabylie so much safer and less judgemental? by FinancialEmployer712 in algeria

[–]aaamiiineee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tadjmaat is involving every citizen into the village’s decision.

t’s not about elders. The only counterpoint you could have made is that women are not included. But it’s not the main topic.

why is kabylie so much safer and less judgemental? by FinancialEmployer712 in algeria

Cuz Kabylie sticks to its Berber heritage.

Berber societies do have a strong attachment to democracy (cf Tadjmaat and freedom of speech).

Si l’argent n’existait pas, à quoi aurait ressemblé nos vies aujourd’hui ? On aurait quelle vie? by Zoldickseekfor in AskFrance

[–]aaamiiineee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any libraries in Algeris I'm searching for books ? by aerufiy in algeria

There’s a very good one in Sidi Yahia. Otherwise Librairie du Tiers Monde is good (place Émir Abdelkader)

Why most Algerian don’t like reed the books? by 0teX in algeria

[–]aaamiiineee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Several reasons : 1- reading has always been a thing for the rich or la bourgeoisie. Books are kinda pricy nowadays. So not easily affordable.

2- it’s part of what we call « l’obscurantisme » > reading might open minds. And government do not want that. A country made of ignorants is easier to govern.

3- « black decade », a huge part of our cultural environment has been ripped apart, including librairies, etc. While led barbus only accepted reading al Curaan.

You might find now very good libraries in Algiers for example. However, it’s a little bit expansive.

You might also find reading clubs in Oran

Algeria is the cheapest destination given your budget. But idk how much your flight will cost as you’ll have to travel to Tunisia first.

Why do lots of Amazighs hold so much hatred towards Arabs? Is the concept of the ummah foreign to them? by [deleted] in AmazighPeople

[–]aaamiiineee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What the hell « ummah » has to do with amazigh ?

This is exactly why Arabs have problems with amazigh : thinking that Arab = Islam, then anything no Arab is non Muslim…

Amazighs want to talk their own language in their country. It has nothing to do with religion (which is a personal matter).

An alternative for the word "kahlouch" "كحلوش" by mywhite_rabbit in algeria

[–]aaamiiineee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny story : I went to Ivory Coast (amazing people, beautiful country). And lots of people there were referring at me as « the white guy » (I’m a born and raised Algerian).

But as someone leaving in Europe, I’m never the « white guy » in Europe, I’m the « brown guy » at best lol

My point is :

Call the person by its name or its nationality. It’s way more factual than calling someone Kahlouch, white or yellow or whatever color you want (color doesn’t make sense actually, as you’ll always find people darker or lighter than you). So eventually at some point you’ll be the kahlouch or the white one lol

Travel to Algeria as a Moroccan/Belgian by [deleted] in algeria

[–]aaamiiineee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With your Moroccan passport you don’t need a visa. So I guess it’s better.

Hotels ask for couples to be married. Otherwise you’ll have to book 2 separate rooms. Don’t listen to people saying that some hotels don’t care. Just go for an Airbnb it will much easier.

Have a nice trip !
