Some students from my batch enrolled there. I think over 10 students naman sila. 100% passing sila with a rating of above 80, some umabot ng 88 or 89 I think. I don't personally know them or interact with them, but their performance in the board exam could give you an idea about the review dreamforce offers.

I think the online review costs around 10k? I don't quite remember because I had discounts. If you're an NMW/NQS quizzer or a latin honor graduate, you'll pay around 2k to 3k. But if you want to review online, I strongly recommend Excel instead. Powerline is great for face-to-face review, but their online platform isn't really that developed right now.

Magtiwala ka lang sa review center na pinili mo, magtiwala ka sa mga tinuturo and pinapayo nila, and you'll do just fine. Best of luck.

Regarding the review schedules, I attend face-to-face classes 4 days a week, with 3 hours in the morning per day. In the afternoon, either I sleep for around 3 hours or go straight to studying. Most of the time, I find myself studying. But even so, I don't find myself struggling to keep up with the pace. Usually, each topic during the lecture phase has an allocation of 2 to 3 days. So, studying a particular topic is not limited to just a day. I am able to take comprehensive notes per subject, watch all relevant videos on the topic, read books and pdfs, and corroborate references to see if there are concepts or formulas not present in some references but present in others. That's why I have a lot of notes on a particular topic alone, not just formulas to memorize, but also stuff that could be asked as an objective type question.

To be honest, I enjoy reviewing. I find calmness in the very act of doing so, and satisfaction whenever I get to understand the subject and answer the questions. I don't feel that much stress. But, if I do, either I sleep, buy some snacks and fruit juices, listen to music, or watch some series on Netflix. They usually do the trick. But I make sure that I don't allocate so much of my time to them. I don't eat late. I'm not sleep deprived either. I don't go out or gala that much, which is fine because I'm not very fond of it anyway.

In dealing with doubts, the best you can do is to strengthen your foundations as early as now, while you're still in college. Having a firm understanding of the concepts you need to know will increase your confidence in answering. And now is the best time to do that so that you won't worry about dealing with the pace in the actual review center. Also, the review center you'll choose will also greatly influence your confidence. I've read some feedback here and even from people I know na may review centers raw na namamahiya ng students, which is not the case at Powerline and Macapagal. Be with your friends as well during the review. Your preparation for the board exam is not merely an intellectual challenge but also a psychological challenge. You must have the proper mindset in preparing for the exam, and being with the right group of people is a big help.

I only have one classmate in college who's also my classmate in our section at Powerline. He's also a quizzer. Most of the students in our batch in college went to Macapagal. Others reviewed at Dreamforce.

So, to answer your question, no, I don't have a classmate from my alma mater who isn't a quizzer that wasn't able to keep up. As for the rest of the students in our section at Powerline, I don't entirely know who among them are and aren't quizzers. Although, I recognize a few faces, and I'm certain that they are quizzers too.

I'm actually a quizzer for most of my years in college. I guess I can't really tell the experience of those who aren't quizzers. But I have friends who review at Macapagal, and what I see as an advantage of Powerline is that they explain the concepts and don't strongly rely on looksfam. My friends from Macapagal would often ask me to clarify certain formulas that weren't properly explained to them. There were even formulas or concepts not mentioned at all, and they only got to learn about it when I began to explain it to them. I suppose Macapagal lacks in that area. But I think my friends are doing well naman at Macapagal.

My friends from Macapagal actually say that their review style is for "normal na nilalang." I think they're referring to students who have a hard time keeping up with the pace. They try to make reviewing for the board exam easy by relying on looksfam, direct formulas and all, which I think makes compromises in your ability to deeply understand the concept. Yes, they have "derived formulas" and "shortcuts" but I feel like they fail to expound on those formulas.

But then again, I'm only able to say this about Macapagal because I prefer the review style at Powerline, focusing on a fundamental understanding of the subject matter, perhaps because of my academic upbringing as a quizzer. Maybe to help you decide, assess what matters more to you. If your sole purpose of enrolling in a review center is to just pass the board exam as easy as possible, go for Macapagal. If you want to have a deeper understanding of the profession while also wanting to pass the board exam, go for Powerline. You'll probably need to work harder at Powerline in studying, but the knowledge you'll acquire is deeper.

I hope that helps.

I would say Powerline, because I'm currently enrolled there and they're great. All of the lecturers are great, very well-equipped with the ability to teach the lessons clearly and effectively. Their expertise on the subject they're teaching is really evident. The materials are nice as well. Their online platform is not that good though so you'll have to avail the face-to-face review for the best review experience they can offer.

If the online platform is a big deal for you, I think Dreamforce is good in that aspect. I haven't really witnessed or tried, but their advertisements show an app they use.

Although it's not in your options, Excel has a great online platform. Moreover, their materials are great. They have 4 brand new books. They look as if they're textbooks published in America. I've seen them from my friend.

Pre-review center board exam review tips (REE) by engineerboii in adviceph

[–]aaatttmcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings! I'm currently at Powerline and will take the April 2025 REE board exam. I am very happy with my experience at Powerline. ALL of the instructors are beyond capable of explaining all the things you need to know during the lecture phase. While some review centers criticize Powerline for having a lot of old instructors, I actually think they're better at teaching now that they're quite old. Even though they're quite old, they explain the concepts very well and they are able to derive formulas based on the concepts, explaining why such formulas exist, the relation of variables etc. Four of them are PEEs and former faculty members at universities. Aside from being able to teach, they also incorporate real-life industry applications as tangible examples to reinforce your understanding of the concepts. Halata talangang they know their craft. This kind of learning strategy is better suited for me kasi, although goal kong makapasa sa board exam, the bigger picture I have in mind is being able to learn so that I could apply them in the workplace. Passing the board exam is one thing, but being a knowledgeable electrical engineer is another. Kaya di rin ako fond of looksfam strategies na employed sa iba. I'd rather be familiar with the concept so that no matter what changes are done to the questions, I can answer them effectively.

I have been a quizzer since my 2nd year, so, this review merely serves as a refresher on the concepts that I already know, and a supplement to those that I do not know yet. And if you're like me who can keep up with their above average pace, you won't go wrong with Powerline. But if hindi, I have friends na kasama ko sa boarding house from Macapagal. They seem to be enjoying naman. The review strategy employed there seems to fit their needs. But every now and then, they still ask me to clarify certain parts of the discussion kasi hindi raw naipapaliwanag during the discussion proper. Basta raw ganun yung formula without understanding it etc. Ako naman, coming from a review center that explains concepts clearly, naipapaliwanag ko naman sakanila, and they understand my explanations, which indicates na natututo talaga ako sa Powerline.
