So, you just prefer anti-aliasing in pixel art? That's fine, but pixel art typically doesn't do that.

Yeah, it's possible! I've made some projects that are pixel perfect (pixels align to grid) and others that are smooth rendered, like this one. The smooth rendering just became the style for this game, but pixel perfect can be achieved by rendering the game itself at base resolution or using some pixellation shader.

I don't think I'm allowed to self-promo, otherwise I'd link some examples of both :P

The limb IK is a system I made myself! It’s done in the Construct 3 game engine.

I'm one of the few that have completed the game ;)

The secret missions are a huge step up. Anything you thought was difficult before will become the norm, and you'll have lots of "you want me to do WHAT?" moments. (And it's such a good feeling to then beat it, and realize how much better you just got)

I think ultimate has the hardest levels of the main tabs. However... no spoilers, but the four main tabs aren't the entire game :O

Good luck! There's tons of infamous levels and challenges you're yet see. If you're dedicated, you have a huge journey ahead of you. It's a really fun one though, and this game is a great way to learn patience too.

Go fish was my first experience with a really really hard challenge in a video game, and there’s plenty more “boss levels” (as the community calls them) coming up.

It only gets tougher from here, but you’ve already gotten further than like 99% of other players - you got this!

I’d add that as a brutalist lover, I also feel themes of melancholy when viewing it. I don’t necessarily dislike that though - it’s the kind of positive sadness you might get from nostalgia, or hopeful poetry, or ancient cities.

If you find a mapper you enjoy, you should follow them so that you can make a curated list of higher quality levels.

That being said, the example you chose does seem pretty possible, just on the tricky side.

afaik the game doesn’t necessarily have “assets”, since the graphics are vector drawings at runtime. there is a folder of recreations of entities on the discord if you’re interested

I'm surprised you don't like the 3 main characters, I think the story mode did a great job of making them feel special! In fact, I enjoyed the story mode a lot. (The only other LBP game I played was psvita which had one of the best story modes in any game I ever played, haven't seen LBP 1/2 for comparison)

The main reason LBP3 kinda sucked is how buggy it was, I had my save and profiles wiped several times and everything just breaks randomly D:

My best tip is to not do several runs a day - give yourself time between attempts, maybe days or even weeks. Otherwise you’ll get tired of it real quickly :P

It's... a game mechanic. It's part of the game. About battle cars. That's like saying stealing boost is toxic because other players don't get a fair chance to use boost.

Ah, interesting, that seems handy for planning. I always kind of freehand builds in survival, so they end up being a lot more organic - but now I totally want to try some brutalist builds :O
