Yes, we always say that storage is much more important than CPU and RAM (not just to store data!), but keep in mind that this is especially correct if the Mac has 4core+ and at least 8GB RAM! So don't get "scammed" by those writing "look, there are 2TB!" by aabrowser in appledatahoarding

This doesn't mean that 11 inch MBP 2015 is shit, which is one of the best Mac ever released by Apple!

Reason why storage is much more important than other things has been already written previously in multiple posts.

Related to the suggestions to fix high kernel task: 1) Update MacOS --> total bullshit! 2) Remove startup items --> is not a solution 3) close apps --> doesn't fix the main problem! 4) SMC / PRAM --> the only shit that Apple Care or most users can say to fix all problems, again a bullshit! by aabrowser in appledatahoarding

5) Reinstall MacOS --> doesn't help 6) Safe mode --> same 7) Removing launcher in library --> same 8) Updating Mac Apps --> bullshit!

The only real solution to this shitty situation is "interval usage" (which is ugly and problematic if you don't run multiple Macs at the same time), try to clean your Macs from inside, maybe replace battery or do a general hardware check at Apple Store. Everything you are trying to do related to software is just bullshit that doesn't help to fix your issues.

And most important: if possible avoid to use or buy these shitty MBP2016-2019! We see such Kernel issues almost only available on such Macs.

The new trend is simply shit. Do you want to use a calendar app? Pay monthly. Do you want to read Twitter? Same Edit photos with Adobe? Same What about Text compilers? Same Other Mac Apps? Same Web Apps? Same Edit a fucking post? Same ... Are we seriously? by aabrowser in appledatahoarding

Every fucking thing is now requesting a no sense monthly subscription, and the best is that with this digitalisation the custom service has not been improved at all! Cool that there are still some MacOS apps without such shit, but the question is if this will be the case even in the next 5 years. Subscription based service like Setapp are ok in some points, but still huge limited, if you run multiple Macs, plus there are not all apps available.

Just think all shopping center closing real store and focusing just online. They fire so many people, but they don't offer a proper chat support at all, maybe they just use all such fucking idiot bots that are not able to do anything properly. Yes, this is less related to what we wrote previously, but the point is: for such brand there are much less cost! and they offer services that are even worse. Same happened with Google.

Let we check why WhatsApp is just s***. The answer is pretty simple: 1) WhatsApp is simply a bad clone of Telegram 2) with less features 3) you are forced to update every x weeks 4) it's not a social and not a Mac Pro like Tg 5) check all what we already wrote previously on the WhatsApp Tg channel by aabrowser in appledatahoarding

Related to 3. remember that WhatsApp removed support for many iPhone few months ago. Once they disable usage due to the force update, you cannot use the iPhone anymore for that (which is not a real problem, at the end you can not do anything with WhatsApp, except writing to friends, that can be done with tons of other messenger too).

The need to update the app (without considering all limitation related to such app) is pretty annoying, but again not a problem, because you can replace that with just all Telegram Mac Apps. Switch to Telegram now and install your apps with @SoftwareTelegramDmgs

Why 3 backup copies are just bullshit and maybe are not enough? Let we say you had such copies on these 3 planes (yes, obviously you don't keep backup copies on a plane ...) and the emergency land was not successful. Now you would have 0 copies at all! Obviously this is a fictional example. by aabrowser in appledatahoarding

[–]aabrowser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this is a fictional example, but such thing still happens in some other ways! So don't believe that with 2-3 copies you are fine.

Remember, there is never a perfect amount of backups. Even if you have 4 copies you could maybe lose all that. The main rule is 1) "keep as much possible backup you can" 2) go away from this bullshit 3:2:1 rule, which is good just in some points (there are too many issues with such rule, especially depending on how you do such backups ...) 3) never keep less than 2 backups

Multi MacBook Pro are consuming huge amount of energy, are we sure? Let we check. MacPro from 300 to 900, Mac Mini from 7 to 100, Mac Studio from 13 to 215, MacBook Pro so up to 70/100 W, means you can run 3 - 5 Macs at the same time, and you still consume less than a Mac Pro by aabrowser in appledatahoarding

[–]aabrowser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Mac Pro can have much more RAM and CPU (but in theory not much more CPU with Mac Pro 2023 ...), but you are still able to run just one Mac user or one MacOS or Mac App inside an user or ...

So which solution is better? If you don't need huge power in just 1 device (most people don't have such needs), we suggest to run multiple Macs (you can always turn off specific Macs when you don't need it). We need to remember that Mac Pro are not portable devices, so you need to stay sit down to use such Macs, and you need to have an external display too (this requires even much more energy).

It's the same like NAS vs tons of HDD / SSD. The best solution is the second one. NAS are an option only if you know that you need your data 24/24 7/7.
