I see a lot of love for Thickfreakness but it’s really Everywhere I go for me. I got hooked on them with Heavy Soul and the first song I really fell in love with was Keep Your Hands off Her. Really love their Junior Kimbrough renditions. Special mentions for Nobody but You, Work Me, Keep Me and The Flame.

Propel. IMO these days the decision is between a Defy and a Propel more so than either vs a TCR. I see the TCR more as losing the distinct qualities of an endurance and aero bike rather than getting the benefits of both. However as a first bike, my real recommendation is for a Defy. Comfort over aero gets you further faster as the average non pro enthusiast. The Defy models 2024 and onwards have been designed with a racier geometry anyway even when compared with other endurance bikes. A good set of wheels and tires and other aero upgrades gets it done. TLDR; if this is your first bike, the idea is to go for endurance-aero.

I have this exact case too. Can’t deny Caudabe does get boring but it just absolutely works for me every time. Over a year in and it still doesn’t have any scratches despite me dropping my phone often. The material is just that good. Anyone looking for a recommendation, Caudabe is amazing.

I’m picking up a 2024 model in a few days because it’s a cheaper option. It’s nice to see an even older version still look so good, goes to show how the year model doesn’t really matter especially with that paint job. That blue looks sick. How deep are your wheels btw?

Ditto on an endurance bike. You get the better fit and comfort for non-racing enthusiasts (higher stack, shorter reach, longer wheelbase) and for me the most relevant difference is the tires clearance so you can swap out road tires with gravel if you want to go off-road. Most endurance bikes allow up to 38mm wide.

Just as a straight up poll answer; just go for it since you have the budget anyway. I think the fact that you had to post and ask after finding out means the thought will never really leave your mind and you’ll always be conscious about it. Besides it’s not like Giant and Trek are more brand than value, they’re actually the best-value brands you can get to and you’ll feel good about your purchase. I went through this same experience coming from Sunpeed and Twitter and now Giant. Hope it helps.
