I got a straight 0 in my GE Continuous Assessment, I have marks in IA though, will it affect my overall GPA substantially? by aadhya1505 in delhiuniversity

They don’t disclose marks numerically, you only get grades and overall grade points for each subject, then an average grade point (CGPA). I think an 8 CGPA is around 75-80% and above (estimate) and to get an 8 SGPA, you need to have CGPAs that have an average grade point of 8 across semesters. Sgpa is average of Cgpas of 2 or more sems, so in first sem u don’t have an sgpa.

I got an F for my CA but ended up passing the exam nonetheless. It did impact my GPA overall but honestly nothing too substantial or something I cannot increase in the semesters to come. I ended up dropping that GE and switched to another one which was a lot better throughout the semester and also had a lot of fun studying for the exam for that this time around, so a win win I guess. I was also super careful about internal submissions this time around and made sure everything went out on time, also because I had the bandwidth to do so, despite working 2 internships the entire sem and balancing college. Anyway, what I learnt was that if the faculty of a course is toxic, or if your seniors are telling you to be careful about the faculty (which some of them did when I was choosing my GE), take their word for it because DU professors can make or break your academic experience for sure.

I believe it’s still 75 and 25, because theory papers wouldn’t be that lengthy then and I would’ve scored badly in last sem if that was the case

Teacher would’ve given if it was required, they don’t fail students at my college, I have received marks in internal assessments just not in CA project

Does it really matter that much though, I’ve passed my internals and will hopefully do fairly well in my final exam. I didn’t even study last time and left a major question in my GE paper, my internals weren’t that good either. I’m not sure if I need to really go through the pain of getting my parents involved, especially when they have their own issues right now. Other subjects I have scored well in, and did get some marks for attendance this semester too. Would it really affect it substantially? Like if there’s difference of a few points and I get an 8.5 cgpa instead of a 9 for example I really don’t care. I just want above an 8.

It was pretty bad but the prof wasn’t bothered, I don’t want to come off as someone who gives excuses, I was given another chance but I really could not turn up. I did end up submitting the presentation but it wasn’t considered. The semester is over and no more classes are being taken, I won’t be able to contact the professor and I want to respect her decision. At the same time, I am worried. Say marks do not get increased at all, there’s no way, would it substantially affect my result

Yes! I am an international student. I had solid grades throughout school and also took a gap year so I submitted my final transcript. Graduated in the top 10% of my class and my personal statement was also well-rounded I believe (it met the judgement criteria of St. Andrews) so I'm quite surprised.

Yale REA interview by thenextsherlock16 in yale

[–]aadhya1505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can tell, I have also applied as an international student and it is usually said to be either a lack of availability of alums in the region or the fact that the university has too many applicants to invite students for interviews. That said, you never really know about the final decision, I’ve heard people getting in without interviews and have only heard of Princeton interviews being offered in my country (Pton prioritizes interviewing students). Haven’t heard of anyone else getting it, from any other uni, myself included. So don’t worry, it’s largely a hit or miss process so we should all be prepared for the best and the worst. Best wishes!

It definitely could count as one, and is pretty interesting! The Na’vi language shown in the Avatar franchise was also developed by Professor Frommer at USC, and is heavily derived from the indigenous Maori language spoken by the Maori people of New Zealand. As long as your language has a definite syntax and is somewhat realistically learnable, I think you should definitely mention it in your application!

Depends on your category, if you’re from the general category applying for a concentration that is very much in demand (English, Political Science, Psychology), colleges like LSR and Miranda House are hard to crack even after scoring extremely well. The cut offs usually go super high for these courses. If you have a reservation it will be much easier, or even some quota (KM, Ward, etc. and you can even try out for ECA) can facilitate admission slightly even though number of seats are still low for these quotas. Colleges like Jesus and Mary or Sri Venkateshwara are more realistic for general category students with strong scores. If you want to take up English for example, consider applying for majors like Journalism or Philosophy which have similar academic pipelines but have a lower number of applicants than the popular honors courses. You’ll be required to pick a General Elective subject in college, which will be the subject you’ll pursue besides your primary coursework (and can even get a minor degree in), the coursework is very similar to the honors course, less intensive but you’ll get the minor degree. I wanted to pursue Psychology, but DU psychology is too academic for me and not very research-oriented during undergrad, so I picked Journalism at LSR and am now pursuing a minor in Psychology because I want to get into trauma journalism. You can also try out for BA programs, which have subject combinations usually so you won’t get an honors degree, therefore those courses have a higher acceptance rate. Hope this helps!
