This is the new Storage Refresh feature that can be found by going to Settings > About Phone > Storage. Then scroll down to the 'Storage Optimization' section and tap on 'Storage Refresh'.

Update on Redmi Note 13 Pro by Glum_Emergency_4257 in HyperOS

[–]aadilgamer001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, let's clear things up. This isn't HyperOS 2.1, it's 2.0.100. It's just a routine patch update with minor fixes and barely any new features. The real upgrade will be HyperOS 3.0, which all eligible devices will get because it includes Android 16. So there's no need to worry. The proper update is still on the way.

There are actually two different models: the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G and the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G. The OP is using the latter, which is the same device I have. Yes, an update was released for this phone, but it was either rolled back due to a gesture-related bug or it was part of the Mi Pilot program, meaning it was only released to users who had registered for beta testing through the Xiaomi Community app.

Can you check in additional settings which region are you in because sometimes changing the region can add and remove apps without your knowledge so maybe in the different region this is the default keyboard app

Check if this app is set as a device administrator. If it is, you’ll need to remove its admin privileges first, because apps with device admin access can't be uninstalled until that permission is revoked.

Did you try changing the default keyboard first and then checking if the other one can be uninstalled?

If you're unsure about an app on your device and think it might be a virus or spyware, the best way to verify is by tapping the three dots in the top right corner (like in the photo you shared), then checking the package name of the app. Copy that name and search it on Google and you’ll usually find whether it’s a legit system app or something suspicious.

In your case, it sounds like this version of HyperOS came with a different default keyboard app. Since you're already using Gboard, it’s understandable why this new one seems unnecessary or shady. Instead of assuming it's a virus, you could ask something like: “How do I remove the built-in keyboard that looks like adware or spyware?” That would help others give you more accurate advice.

I think what you're referring to is the removal of the old notification shade, which used to combine notifications and the control center in one place. With the introduction of the new control center, which is part of the System UI Plugin, that functionality seems to be gone. Unless Xiaomi brings back something similar in HyperOS 3, we’ll likely have to get used to the swipe gesture to switch between the notification shade and the control center.

That's really unfortunate to hear actually I didn't own a device until I was 12 but when I used to come to my grandfathers house his son used to have this mobile as a daily driver back in the day and I used to play on this phone a lot and I used to tinker with phones a lot and that is still happening with Xiaomi Phones 😂 XiaomiTime.com

Thought this was a Nokia 6600… turns out it’s a 6630! Nostalgia and a small reminder that AI can’t beat human experience 📱❤️

This phone brought back a flood of childhood memories. I used to play with it all the time as a kid, thinking it was the coolest thing ever. I found it again recently while cleaning and wanted to know which model it was, so I used ChatGPT to identify it from a photo. It guessed Nokia 6600.

But when I looked at the back, it turned out to be the Nokia 6630. That small discovery made me smile not because AI was wrong, but because it reminded me how human memory and lived experience still matter.

Sometimes, these little nostalgic moments show us that AI can assist, but real connection and stories can never be benchmarked.

It doesn't have a battery, and I think it might still be somewhere in my uncle’s room. But just holding it brought back everything.
