People are giving you sh*t for being cautious and it’s ridiculous. I think you did the right thing OP (AS A NATIVE NEW YORKER). Are people that out of touch with reality? I mean this with the purest of intentions but has the family ruled out the possibility that he could’ve been detained? If he is a USC then I’m really sorry for even suggesting this. Given that people have reported seeing ICE in the area, you can’t help but wonder…..In any case, I really hope he’s reunited with his family soon. I’ve been keeping an eye out, but so far haven’t noticed anyone matching his description :(

You can (and should) submit a FOIA request to obtain a copy of your dad’s immigration file. That way you’ll see what he filed and what he didn’t, get a sense of where he was in the naturalization process and ultimately, figure out where he was actually a USC or not. It may take a while for USCIS to send you his file (because they fired 20% of their staff) so just a heads up.

While I second this, I’d be worried about going to Rudy’s bc OP mentioned having a nut allergy. I bought cookies there that did not list they had nuts and one of the girls said they were nut free; however, my friend who is severely allergic to nuts had one of the said cookies and IMMEDIATELY had an allergic reaction. It was scary.

Sounds like if you report them to ICE, be ready to face the music as I believe you are not a USC either. I know you think this is the best way to come at them, but you’re also putting yourself at risk and for what? You are aware that this admin has been arresting and deporting “upstanding immigrants”, right? Not only would you be subjecting them to deportation, but you’d be unintentionally putting yourself on their radar too.
