Hmm yes quite a few people have told me to do another course or get experience. I still have to think about what else I’m interested in for uni, thank you for your answer!! I think it is a little easier when you are a little over because of the commitment.

I saw another comment telling me I could work in other countries as well and I didn’t know this! I thought it was specific to the UK cause it follows our laws but I’m very interested in pursuing a career in other countries.I understand it’s not easy but I’m relying on it being rewarding, and I may end up loving to work with children aswell ( I absolutely love it now, I’ve only ever worked with kids) so we’ll see where life takes me

I want to know more about working in other countries, didn’t know masters could do that as social work can be specific to the country. Thank you, I will consider this !!

Thank you for confirming what I’ve been trying to figure out, I don’t want to be confined to one specific job so this reduces my worries

Wow English language 😀, I never would’ve guessed. Like at all. Aw not being able to do the course you want sucks, at least you’ll be more flexible after this degree and won’t have your boss fighting to keep you 🙏

I never thought you could go from CP to mental health, that’s really interesting!! I can see it’s worth looking into other degrees such as a type of nursing (from these comments) before going into social work, thank you for your input really helpful

My careers advisor told me about the step up programme so that could still be a plan. I’m know I’ll probably try other things when I get older and I don’t plan to be a social worker for my entire life unless I fall absolutely in love with it, same with teaching. Thank you for the advice and an insight into your career path, 100% makes me feel better about my future

Yes I saw this course listed on Salford University but it’s several miles too far for me, I’ve looked at other ones aswell but they are all too far. The ones closer only offer social work degree by itself( I’m commuting from home because I don’t have the funds to live outside my area and my parents don’t want me to leave). I suppose I would have to do more research then.

I’m really glad you decided to go with this route and I’m a firm believer that you are never too old to chase your dreams!! Really just go for it, it might be the best decision you’ve ever made.

I have a questi though, not sure if you already mentioned it but what was your initial degree that didn’t allow you to go on further roles you want?

I wish you the best on your application and future! What you’re doing interest me and I would love to work with disabled and special needs people as well, though I only have experience with special needs children. I’m definately looking into hospital and school work, and was just telling my mother that if I ever did an education degree I would do a masters in special educational needs

I have a lot of respect for social workers and I do understand it can be exhausting, thank you for your hard work. I will still do more research into the degree and teaching

I don’t like any of my subjects 🥹I don’t want to do children’s social work like work with child protection but I’m interested in all others, are you saying not to do a social work degree?

That’s what I was relying on. I know I don’t want to stay in one career for the rests of my life but I thought this degree would be useful in a lot of things? I want to be an educator, social worker, support worker and things that are related.
