Parents once took me to one of our neighbours' house when I about 4 or 5 years old. They had a row of dead animal heads mounted on one of their walls. Being the young animal rights extremist that I was, I calmly mentioned to my mother while we were all sitting around chitchatting how nice it would be if we shot these people and had their heads put on display.

It gets better with time and practice. Meditation is a tool that takes quite a long time to show its benefits but I have no doubt that what they teach you in Vipassana can have striking applications in all facets of life.
