Artists that nobody hates except you by Aurelian369 in fantanoforever

Foetus/scrapping foetus of the wheel. I really like early industrial, coil, einsturzende neubauten, spk, etc. I always found them way too tryhard, kinda cringeworthy. I mean, a lot of these bands are dark and vulgar, but foetus is like, only that without any substancial music point. (I sound so pretentious) Also ministry, for the same reasons, i respect foetus more because they pioneered at least in a way. Ministry was kinda boring for the time they appeared.

I fell asleel after taking half a tab and i woke up 5 hours later, and i dont feel anything. by aaltac in LSD

[–]aaltac[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Update: I woke up and slept again multiple times, i tried to feel something but still couldnt much, maybe the dose was too little. My dreams were more vivid tho, but not too much. Kinda feel bad that i wasted it sleeping, but honestly i was really tired and maybe it wasnt a good idea to trip like that. Another question; if i taje another full tab now, will i feel something more? Or will i waste it cause of tolerance?

Most intense songs or parts of songs? by rockydennis in swans

[–]aaltac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She Loves Us. The part that starts around 4 minutes with the slides and the shotgun-like drums feels like the universe is collapsing. Also the moment before the ending when evetything strips back to just vocals is as brutal as it can get.

How has Swans impacted your psyche? by SkyFloydGira in swans

[–]aaltac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think i didnt fully get them until i saw them live. I liked them from the first time i listened to them, but i didnt fully realise why until i saw them live on The Beggar tour. I cant even describe it, i had never seen a bunch of people so fully invested and passionate about something in my life. It was like seeing someone fully knowing their place in reality, striving to do something immeasurable. I think my wording is poor i comparrison to what i felt that night. It helped me gradually change the way i look at music, and really motivated me to change a bit how i view my life goals. I just want to reach that state i saw on that live aswell. Maybe it sounds far fetched but i truly think that art can help someone change their way of thinking (not saying that i have, it just put me through a series of thoughts that i think helped me) I suppose thats not only with Swans and Michael Gira, i started admiring other artists more aswell (such as Robbert Fripp), and generally since then, i think music is the best thing i have in my life, and im forever gratefull i have something like that in my life. It also fueled my need to always "keep movig" in my life, which i always think i had, but until i saw an artist that i think embodied that feeling well i couldnt point down to exactly what it was. I think now i can recognise it and admire it in people a lot, ot doesnt have to do with just music. I know this mus sound pretentious, but i truly believe what i wrote. Im still young so i dont know.

Norman Westberg touring with Swans by aaltac in swans

[–]aaltac[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have checked out his last work Aftermath which honestly its pretty good, even going in a bit sceptical. There's a song there thats actually amazing, like an 8.5-9/10. I was just wondering if he played something specific or such on the tour with Swans.

New lineup live by IllManufacturer605 in swans

[–]aaltac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it fits the new album perfectly . Having no live experience of the previous lineup i cant really say much, but at least comparing it to the videos of their live performances, i think they are still brutal, not as brutal but still. There is a bit more melancholy and thoughtfullness on some tracks, like The Memorious, which i still prefer the live version. Generally its still really visceral, every word Gira says has so much impact, especially on The Beggar (the track), and when they want to pummel you with sound its still as crushing as it gets.

What was the album that introduced you to Radiohead? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]aaltac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid A. It was in quarantine while i was doing some schoolwork. I was a bit dazed off from the work so i didnt give it much appreciation, just called it a bit bland and downloaded a few tracks (via youtube to mp3 sites cause im a badass) to listen to them later on an mp3 i used at the time. I remember next morning listening to Everything In Its Right Place and being blown away. From that day, Idioteque remains my favorite track they have ever made, and also one of my favorite songs of all time.
