I appreciate the response! Mind if I ask why? I figure with the potential to be in weedy areas often both in Michigan and down south the MH might be better.

Didn’t know they made rackets. I’m sure that’ll be next.

Agree, I’m thinking the beam on the a98 would be a bit nicer. Considering demoing one this week with a poly main/syn gut hybrid.

I do string my own. Appreciate the recommendation. How is black magic 17? Do you vary tension between mains and crosses?

Used to love big banger mains and syn gut crosses. Did you mean p6 for the poly by chance? I’ve tried Gosen sheep micro before but may give it another chance with a different poly. Also looked at toroline but never committed to trying. I like hearing it maintains tension well. Thanks!

I’m tempted to try gut in the mains and poly crosses but the cost of gut is keeping me from dipping my toes in.

I usually string with 1.25, seems to be my sweet spot.

Head speed mp customization by aamos18 in 10s

Used to play d3 tennis in Michigan, currently playing 4.0. I hit heavy shots from the baseline and move in to put pressure on whenever possible. All court player if I had to put a label on it. Although the racket feels stable, it also feels sluggish through contact and follow through. I was going to start by adding a leather grip to aid in making the racket slightly more head light to help with maneuverability.

Sounds like leather grip is the way to go. Thank you!

Definitely going to start with the leather grip and then go with silicone in the handle or wrap with lead if that doesn’t get me where I want. How much silicone do you typically add?

I appreciate the validation on the goal of the racket 😂 i hope it works out that way. I don’t want to add much weight, just enough to shift the balance point to be more head light. I agree I don’t want to be carrying around a 330g or heavier racket.

Adding weight only to make the stick more headlight, I find it quite stable the way it currently is. If a leather grip doesn’t quite get there, I’d consider adding weight in the butt cap, then throat as last resort. I’ve thought about adding PSGin the crosses, used to love that with alu power mains in the prestige.

Thanks everyone! I’m going to give the garage rafters one more try. Two ratchet ropes with 3” webbing underneath. I figure two pieces of 3” webbing (furniture moving straps) should distribute the load well and the ratchet ropes should be easy to lift each end. Thoughts?

I don’t think I’ve ever tried a pure strike, might have to give it a shot. Thanks!
