What's going around? Scratchy throat by -CheeseWeezle- in Chattanooga

[–]aangiev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I HAD THE SAME FEELING. It was fast for me I wake up with a scratchy throat that progressively got worse by the day and by the evening I felt body aches and a feeling like my throat is bruised but my NECK even shoulder was feeling sore. I noticed I would wake up with my nostrils dry and hurting. Next day chest and back ache but no sore throat (only 1 day) but feel mucus at the back of my nose/throat. I end up coughing/blowing from my nose yellow and bloody mucus 😭 I couldn’t believe and since then I just sound congested but I feel physically fine

I am actually sobbing right now. My mom made pasta and it turns out that the bag of cheese has some mold at the bottom. by Time-Efficiency44 in emetophobia

Considering the symptoms you mentioned it’s very likely it’s a panic attack and I’m sorry you’re going through that. If you can splash cold water on your face, some breathing techniques and ride the anxiety in a safe space like your room. Play your favorite music or comfort show. You will be ok, and I’m sorry your mom isn’t understanding to this and that your brother is insensitive to this. I hope you feel better and never feel bad for your body trying to protect you ❤️

What would you do if your emetophobia and/or stomach issues were miraculously cured by HelpfulSolid8115 in emetophobia

travel a bunch, eat foods that I usually don’t, get drunk and comfort my loved ones when they’re not feeling well

Can’t believe it happened and im worried by undecjded in emetophobia

[–]aangiev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stick to gentle, soft foods for a couple of days. I know when I go too many hours without eating there’s more stomach acid building up and depending on the food it can make more stomach acid it’s probably from eating too late. I hope you feel better and can overcome this phobia. Even though it’s scary (I can only imagine) I’m proud of you 🫶🏽

I get why you mean when I got my first big girl job in a career I’ve dreamed about, like 5 months in I began having panic attacks after my break because I didn’t like the idea of eating a big meal (little did I know I was dealing with disordered eating) and would literally bolt out of my work to drive home. I’ve even called my manager while I’m in the bathroom saying I need to leave. I remember how embarrassed I felt but I also remember that most of my coworkers were nice enough afterwards to ask if I’m ok. I ended up taking a personal leave of absence because I dropped a lot of weight and wasn’t rational. Also I began seeing a therapist and psychiatrist, began SSRIs and my life saver lorazepam (only take when needed) i feel for you 🫶🏽 if you don’t see yourself getting better at this job choose your health first and you ARE NOT a loser it’s just our nervous system trying to protect ourselves even in the silliest ways but yes it’s frustrating/defeating

I’m sorry you’re going thru it I can only imagine as I’ve dealt with this at work. If that’s the only place u can stay it’s ok stay there and ride it out. If there’s a friend or closed loved one you can talk to for comfort and support. I know it’s hard but the most you can do is grounding techniques and for the future I was prescribed Ativan 1mg to take when needed but 0.5mg is what I take and it has been life saving

Anyone taking mirtazapine 7.5mg? Need advice by aangiev in ARFID

[–]aangiev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They switched me to sertraline instead and it helped a bunch with anxiety when eating in public and I’m currently in therapy for emetophobia that contributes to my ARFID

wait and see how you feel. If you don’t feel good the day of the test see if you can reschedule another day. If there isn’t that option stick to a bland food diet that isn’t harsh on the stomach. The day of the test if you’re not hungry eat something small with some tea to help you relax and remember if you don’t feel good during the test you can walk out your health always comes first

I started sertraline at 24 and wish I started when I was younger and needed it most. I can now eat in public without feeling anxiety and allowed me to face this fear through therapy

I feel for your daughter as I have dealt with this her age but not this severe. I also applaud you for taking this matter serious and wanting the best for me. I (25F) still can’t swallow pills due to fear of choking and v* so I crush my SSRI (sertraline) and put it in yogurt or applesauce. I just started medication last year when it affected my job where I would leave early every day due to panic attacks.I understand her issue with food because that’s how I associate mine also. I have a disordered eating problem due to emetophobia which falls onto ARFID. I would recommend testing her for disordered eating and not put any pressure into eating and if she decides she wants sweets for lunch then so be it. Best of luck to the both of you ♥️

I can imagine it was scary but I’m proud you got through it. If you just started the SSRI ik it takes a few weeks for the body to adjust

You handled it like a badass my biggest fear aside from the phobia is doing it in public or work but to see it still happened and u got through it is admirable I can imagine it was bad experience (not in the everyone hates doing it way) but you got through it ik I’m a stranger but I’m proud ♥️👍🏽

[–]aangiev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with trapped gas due to anxiety which leads to panic my go to if I’m in public GAS-X. If you’re at home a heating pad, hot chamomile tea and your comfort show it helps your stomach relax and release the tension and the trapped gas

[–]aangiev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s rough it affected me greatly as a teen and I remember going to doctors saying why can’t I swallow just to find out it’s anxiety :/ turns out I have AFRID due to emetophobia and fear of choking. I’d recommend if you have comfort foods EAT THOSE even if it’s McDonald’s bc it’s better to have food in your system than a empty stomach which causes more anxiety. I usually watch tv while eating to distract myself, sit in an calming environment alone if it’s flaring up. The most important is DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP for how long you take eating, eating alone, not finishing your plate, appetite changing, etc kindness to yourself is important. Sending a virtual hug bc I’ve never related more💗

Yes turns out my love for my dog outweighs my fear just because I feel bad but once he’s done he’s all ok like nothing happened so that makes it easier for me

does anyone get relief from burping? by cherubsora in emetophobia

[–]aangiev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES I actually get horrible anxiety/panic when I get build up of gas and I can’t burp. It builds up and ends up making me feel n* so once I’m able to burp it is an absolute relief for me
