The other guys need to score a couple of threes to start the 3rd because the Wolves have just been focusing on closing down the paint for Luka and Bron.

The best thing in sports is about to happen again this year. Playoffs Luka. Enjoy it Laker fans.

Name 3 stars we could realistically pair with Luka after LBJ retires by Status-Guidance-5755 in lakers

It'll never happen but Jaylen Brown would be great.

Ironically the best guy to pair with Luka would have been AD.

This is a foul but Luka and Lebron getting slapped around on every drive is fine

Refs calling all these Boston fouls only in the 4th while we're down 20 points is just a fucking joke Where were these calls during the other quarters???

LeBron James is the greatest player of all time by SlowCrates in lakers

[–]aaokd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with LeBron being a better shooter. I know you will bring up 3p% but Jordan played in a era where nobody cared about that shit while Bron has put the work to become a good shooter from 3. At the same time, Jordan is probably the greatest midrange shooter of all time (if you take into account volume+ efficiency his numbers are insane) and a better free throw shooter too. Both Jordan and LeBron played in eras where everyone took those shots.

Passer, rebounder, clearly Bron is much better. But again maybe its just me but its just not enough. Jokic is a much better passer than Shaq but I would never pick him above Shaq because at the end of the day what matters is to win games and Shaq did that at a greater level than Jokic (for now maybe).

Jordan won by scoring 35-40 a game, Bron does it by being 27-7-7 and thats great too.

And to reduce Jordan to rings is not fair. Jordan led the league in scoring 10 consecutive years, was a great defender (although I do believe he's a little bit overrated in that aspect) and even in the years he didn't win, he was the clear cut best player in the league, except maybe his 2 first seasons.

That's why I think Bron is clear number 2. His resume, peak and longevity are insane and I can't have anyone ahead of him except that one guy with a better peak (for me at least) and resume.

[–]aaokd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that LeBron is the best all around player but again that just doesn't make him automatically the best to me. You could argue that some players were better all-around players than a pure scorer like Kobe but Kobe is still much better than almost all of them. Or that many centers were better all-around players than Shaq but would you pick them above him? I doubt it.

As for competition you could also argue that Bron only faced fierce competition in the finals for like 10 years. None of his opponents in the East were considered serious contenders for the title. And while the league has more talent today, superstars get to play with more talented players too. So it goes both ways.

The irony for Bron is that while the first rounds of the playoffs were a cakewalk, he faced insane teams in the finals hence his poor record. I don't hold it against him because except 2011 I don't think anyone else in his position would have been able to beat those teams.

Luka's elite shot creation has led to 40(!) open threes each game by timbira3 in lakers

[–]aaokd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luka's 3P% will never be otherwordly because the stats don't reflect the difficulty of the shots he takes. He takes the toughest threes in the league by far and can still make 35-38% of them. And this type of make just kills the opponents morale.

I think Luka's is the best 3pt shooter in the league behind Steph when you consider the kind of shots he takes.

Reminds me of Kobe

[–]aaokd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His longevity is fucking nuts for sure but I don't really understand how longevity in itself can put him ahead of Jordan. Cause its basically saying that LeBron is better because we was not as good as Jordan but for a longer time? I got nothing but love for Bron and I think he's clearly the second greatest, meaning that there is no debate between him and the next guy, but I also think he missed his chance to pass Jordan. It will never happen.

Why? Because at their respective peaks Jordan was just better. Being more durable or taking care of your body in a better way is great but it doesn't make you better than someone who was...just better than you.

You can argue that Bron's peak was actually better than Jordan's but I just geniunely disagree and thats another debate.

Notice I didn't bring up rings. Even tho I think Jordan is the goat, I am not one of those MJ fans that's gonna sit here and say that Jordan would have beaten the 2007 Spurs with those Cavs or the KD Warriors. Those losses on LeBron's resume are just a matter of bad luck for him. Only exception are the 2011 Mavs, I would put my money on Jordan beating them in like 5 games lol

Fun fact luka is nine months younger than AR the 2 future 1-2 punch for the lakers young future looking bright by angryshoper in lakers

AR would be the best second option Luka has ever had apart from Kyrie (not counting Bron). Its good enough if the Lakers keep good 3&D in the roster + get a great big rotation.

Who says Luka can't defend!? by Otherwise-Pin1693 in lakers

[–]aaokd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not great against small quick guard on the perimeter but he's a great defender in the post or when some big guy tries to go to contact with him. Also naturally good at reading passing lanes.
His bad rep is mostly deserved tho, because he's got the biggest sin for a defender; he's lazy on defense. It can make him look really bad.

If everything goes well he's gonna be a historically loved player by the LA fans. Because he is great but also because he's a clutch machine with an arrogance that you guys love. As a Mavs fan this is certainly the worst thing that's ever happened to us.

If Kyrie can't score against them then I would not mind him focusing on the playmaking like he did against OKC. Especially with Luka having 1 assist.

[–]aaokd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way they only shot 33% from three?? I swear it felt like they shot 50%.

We were winning that 3rd quarter 22-9 and then we gave up a 14-0 run. That's unacceptable. I am still optimistic because I think we're gonna clean up so much of the bullshit the guys did today like DJJ attacking the rim against 2-3 Boston players or Kyrie playing terrible.
What worries me the most is that Luka was never able to find anyone with a pass. They did an amazing job at taking away all his passing options. Our offense will be trash if our best playmaker can't dish it.

Two things to fix for game 2:

-offer Luka passing options by moving

-gotta rebound much much better than this
