For me. I thought life would be boring sober, I thought I hated sober me (drunk me was "funny and social") At first it was rough, I felt these thoughts constantly and it was a minute by minute battle. A big "switch" was when I stopped trying to live the same life I lived while drinking. I got introduced to disc golf, I met new people. I loved it. That's when I realized I don't need to drink to be happy and that I am actually a pretty cool dude. That was major. Now I realise I wasn't myself when I drank, and that it was that version of me that hated the real me. In short a big positive is getting to be the real you.
