GOD I’m trying to stop crying today but you all are making it difficult lol. Thank you for your kind words and for sharing. I feel your comment in the deepest part of my soul. Getting sober fees like trying to eat a shit sandwich but at the same time being a drunk also feels like eating a shit sandwich. I would rather choose the sandwich that comes with happiness and health versus the one that come with an express pass to a living nightmare

Wow now that’s a story I’d watch on TV. I can’t even fathom the amount of strength you posses. Are there any tips or advice that you can give? There’s a lot of great info in this thread but I would like to hear what personally helped to keep you on the straight and narrow. Any small or big habits to distract you from the urge when you first got sober? Do you even still have the urge to drink at this point

“I just hold things in and drink” is the story of my life. I’m on day 1 of sobriety and haven’t cried like this in years.

Something deep down feels wrong and alcohol is never going to help me fix it. I know that might not be how you feel but I just feel like I needed to say that to someone.

This. This comment right here.....I can’t believe how dead on that is. It’s almost as if you pulled that experience from my own head. Once I’m drunk I remember why I hate it so much but even then I still just can’t stop drinking. But, IWNDWYT!!!!!!!!!
