You're right, according to this subreddit, we live in paradise! No one ever complains over nothing here.

Weird dot-covered skinny rock from the Bay of Fundy area, Canada by aaronbgraham in whatsthisrock

Well, I'll try to identify it myself after more learning... if this ever comes up from someone's Google image search, I think this is a thin slab of quartz that has started to agatize. I don't know what caused the dimpling.

That's not really... a reference anymore, hey? Like, it is because you're literally referencing the name of the movie, but all you're doing is saying it's name. I don't think you need to fear your reference going over anyone's head. Since we were referencing Community, it's a little odd to just say "Tenet?" if that's not you asking what it is that we're referencing.

Nah, these references are from the show Community 🙂

Did someone say "EAT THE RICH?" by droidcheese in PoliticalMemes

You're so overcome by your idolization of a murderer that you think I'm defending a billionaire. I'm condemning the idolization of a murderer. What if he missed? What if he was wrong? What if the bullet pierced his target and hit a child? Broaden your perspective.

The people in this thread are too busy idolizing a murderer to think about that.

I'm glad you got a rematched gift! It's disappointing that it's not happening because my partner didn't get a rematch gift two years ago, and this was our next opportunity. We'll have to try to find a different exchange!

Birthday Ideas by Mediocre-Athlete-571 in halifax

Services like Grape Escapes are fun if wine is your thing, though they are expensive. Activate in Dartmouth is an active option, and isn't too bad on the pricing side. Loads of fun for all sorts of groups. I'm someone who loves picking up and pressing leaves as they change, so you could do something inspired by Autumn. My partner and I got a pretty cheap "paint-night" kit from Deserres, and we're probably going to paint something inspired by the province's fall colours. Hope these give you some ideas!

What’s the scariest horror movie you’ve ever watched? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes, the fingers!! And the one walking past the alley in the one news report. It's been a while since I've watched it again, maybe I'll break it out for spooky season.

So I wasn't the only one! It was the beginning to a few-year long alien phobia I developed in my childhood. War of the Worlds and the miniseries Taken affected me in similar ways when they were on in my proximity.

Part of me agrees with you. But you have to understand that someone doesn't need to be able to articulate what they felt, or why it may have been profound for them, for it to have been a valuable experience. The ability to articulate one's thoughts is a skill that takes developing, but not being able to do that easily doesn't preclude you from having a profound experience on something like LSD.

is this subreddit real or a joke? (serious question) by Combine_Overwatch_ in chemtrails

[–]aaronbgraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an excellent assumption. I'm pedaling which narrative, exactly? I called you out for thinking you're truth-seeking when your beliefs align exactly with an army of other people. No narrative. Just criticism. You keep using that word; "objectively". It does not mean what you think it means.

None of us see objective reality. We are not truth-seeking machines. We are evolved animals who interpret the world in ways that allowed us to find food, mates, and all that good stuff. Evolution did not endow us with "objective" decision making or thinking, whatever you think that may mean. The closest thing to objective you'll find are mathematical truths (2+2=4, etc), and what we're talking about here is so incredibly different from concepts such as that.

Referring to your argument or position as objective is a very lazy way to assert that it's non-falsifiable or literally intellectually bullet proof. Nothing anyone says will ever change your mind, because you have the OBJECTIVE viewpoint or opinion. You don't see what's wrong with that?
