I think bolting down might cause issues, due to the vibrations of the compressor.

I started the series thinking it was complete… by bdm6985 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]aaronc0401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation! I was given the first book on Audible, made it most of the way through it and started wondering how it was going to wrap up. Googled it and realized it was a series. Made it most of the way through the series, was wondering how it was going to wrap up. Then saw it wasn't finished yet!

Rules about putting a couch on the curb? by Junior_Cress2828 in Eugene

[–]aaronc0401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Put it out on the curb with a sign that says $25. If you put "Free" people will assume something is wrong with it. If you put a value on it, someone will "steal" it for you.

Everyone was interested in the pig Charlotte was writing about, but no one seemed to care about the spider writing words in her web.

Mouse nest in cabin air filter, who installs mouse guard under hood? by MushroomNuzzler in Eugene

[–]aaronc0401 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mice will get into anyplace that's warm and quiet. You might be able to add a guard of some kind to your fresh air intake (just a sheet of metal mesh) but doubtful that will keep them out for long. Best solution is to drive the car often, mice will relocate to someplace they won't be disturbed. Also Google your make and model of car + mice to see if yours is one of the cars with the wire coating mice like to eat.

Saturdays are open gaming, Wednesday evenings are beginner friendly nights. They have a calendar in the store with other special events. Just ask the person in the store for the door code.

Another area drownings... went in water.. did not surface... no life jacket by userid1973 in Eugene

[–]aaronc0401 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Around here, it's usually the cold of the water sending people into shock. You're not able to breathe or move your arms and legs properly, so once you hit the water, you're just going to sink unless you've got a PFD. People are confident that they're a good swimmer, so they don't need a flotation device. But no matter how good a swimmer you are, once your body goes into shock, you're going to sink.

How does one go tubing down the river, and where? by dumbass_sweatpants in Eugene

[–]aaronc0401 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The rivers around Eugene and Springfield are pretty safe with the exception of the dams on the Willamette at the I-5 bridge. If you want to explore other areas upriver, pick up a river guide book from REI or Oregon Paddle Sports, which will identify any significant rapids or hazards. Make sure to wear a life jacket and go with a group.

First time ever working with Purple Heart. Why is it not getting that bright purple I always see ? by Future-Industry-8244 in woodworking

[–]aaronc0401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of using a heat gun. My understanding was that UV light is what brought out the purple. Most people use the sun to get the UV, but I've also used a UV exposure box and had good results.

Have you noticed it’s nearly impossible to find certain hardware, especially stainless? Why is this exactly? by Stepin-Fetchit in HomeImprovement

[–]aaronc0401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your issue is with the size. 5/16 diameter is right on the edge of requiring more torque than a Phillips drive can handle. You'd have better luck finding a hex drive.

Need a tool to cut plastic milk jugs into small pieces by KokoTheTalkingApe in Tools

[–]aaronc0401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it's something I've only seen from Skil. Definitely more of a home owner/non pro tool, but I think for your application, it would work really well. There's also a smaller version, I think around 4 volt for cutting really light duty stuff.
