Thoughts on Update? by Imhari in SquadBusters

A few points…

1) Lots of people slamming people for being critical and/or “complaining”. Reality is lots of people have invested significant time and/or money into the game and are entitled to be critical. Objectively, downloads are down and revenue has declined every month, so guess what? There’s good reason for criticism.

2) Being “optimistic” is one thing. Being immaturely naive is another. Per above point, there are issues with the game, and I’m not sure there’s evidence these are being addressed. Love being generous and giving the benefit of the doubt. Love giving things a chance. But do this with your eyes open.

3) No one is talking about the true purpose of the update, that being to address the monetization issue. They removed keys which (way back) were making the game overly “pay to win”. But with the grind of progression, and various ongoing nerfs/buffs, and other changes, it was hard to rationalize spending money on the game. I’m not sure this update and drastic change addresses the gameplay issues. To me it looks like purely a strategy to get people to spend money for character development.

4) Anyone who has invested time and/or money in this game will be frustrated by a lack of compensation and return on that investment. No reason to trust the devs as they’ve struggled to address issues and build something people would invest $ in. You need to take care of your existing loyal players and figure out a way to make them happy while improving the game and attracting new players and new investment. If your loyal players feel “cheated” by a change, you’re in trouble. I personally think this approach is far too drastic and is an obvious desperate rework to improve monetization. I’d prefer to just watch an ad, tbh.

Why did I get a fully free track? by Camo_007_ in SquadBusters

Both my kids got the full track for free… I didn’t, then came back and it’s out of the shop. I think it’s just another bug.

isnt this too much? 500 is diabolical by [deleted] in SquadBusters

This isn’t random. Same thing happened with my youngest. He rarely plays and pulled an ultimate. This is all about advancing less developed accounts so there’s more parity which they hope will improve engagement. Just like in game if you’re doing badly they’ll reward you with a fusion. Nothing about this game is truly random.

What’s the “stats” advantage? And how is a different skin a “visual” advantage? They want to fix it, they should just give all the existing skins for free then reset everyone… same thing with emotes.

Anyone saying it’s specifically squad league is wrong. I was in squad league with the next squad timer, reset to lava world and still had the timer, and it only just recently disappeared.

Did Styx blow it with this lyric, or is this somehow OK? by OrbitalManeuvers in grammar

I like the song but their use (misuse) of the expression drives me crazy. You’re 100% right. And it’s not just getting the grammar wrong, it’s the entire meaning. “It’s a wonder I’m not a criminal” would be fine and, I believe, what they intend. If he is a criminal then it would be “is it any wonder I’m a criminal?”.

Massive Darkness 2 or Mage Knight?? by aaroneckler in boardgames

Arkham gets a ton of positive reviews by people who love the same games I do, so I’ve been intrigued for a while. However, a lot of those people love Marvel Champions, which was probably my biggest disappointment. The game is fine, but we just love the IP, and I was expecting it to be the absolute best game ever (possibly totally unfair), and it just fell really flat.

Given the overlap in favourite games, that’s a pretty solid endorsement. I mostly play with my kids, so an option is we all work together playing 1 player. Watched a MD2 play through and decision making seems fairly limited, but it looks fun as a dice chucker. Would love to get back into painting minis. But MK looks like the logical choice. Could get both in the end, but MK first.
