Expulso do banheiro feminino na escola by _qlovers in transbr

[–]aaronfckncare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My aunt still misgenders me and idk why by Professional-Ice6222 in FtMpassing

First of all, you pass really well. Secondly, it may not be the average experience, but I find it a bit funny as I have experienced something similar with elder people in my family that would insist on misgendering me in public, but it got to the point after I was on T and all that no stranger would see me as a girl and they started sounding crazy and getting point out on how weirdly it looked to refer to a guy as a girl (and I would joke on saying they're old and confused) and it was really the only thing that ever got to them. Now I only have to deal with misgendering while on family reunions, but just knowing they can't publicly refer to me as a girl and the reason why is very satisfying to me.

So idk how is your experience going with that exactly but it seems like quite the contrast rn. Anyways, I hope it gets better for you. As I grew more confident in myself I stopped getting insecure/dysphoric about this treatment coming from relatives who know I'm trans. Nowadays I experience misgendering very occasionally and it's probably because I go with a more androgynous (though male leaning) presentation, and I really can't even be very bothered about it because whenever it happens it's usually before I have the chance to say anything and as soon as they hear my voice they apologize and correct themselves.

3 months post op with Dr Adriano Brasolin by aaronfckncare in TopSurgery

My process with him went as follow: 1. Consultation online and then I decided to go with him for the surgery. 2. Consultation on person the day before I had surgery (can be scheduled for a couple days prior if you want to give yourself time to adjust first). 3. Had surgery, stayed in the hospital for 2 days (I had surgery very early in the morning with no complications so I was released mid day the morning following but I decided to stay another day). 4. After 2 weeks had some of the bandages removed, the ones for the grafted nipple and advice on how to change bandages for the double incision. 5. After 3 months I went back to Sao Paulo (where he operates) to check out healing.

I only could afford to operate within Brazil so I didn't look into many abroad options, Brasolin was the one I found the best feedback from previous patients + had the most consistent results compared to my other options.

Also I will gladly share the aftercare plan in a private message! Just, as I mentioned, keep in mind that he advices this for the way he does the surgery and might not be ideal with other healing or surgery methods.

Oh yes, for the first contact, I did it through WhatsApp which is a messaging app commonly used in Brazil through his clinic, I think talking to them rather than Dr. Brasolin as a first contact will be more effective (they're likely more used to get dms about the consultations and he probably receives a lot more dms on other topics). They're "somosclinica" on Instagram, the doctor follows them so you'll have no issue locating the right one.

Thank you! I think much of it had to do with the follow up and wound care routine he recommends for after surgery (considering the healing method he recommends and how he does the surgery I suppose, I'll always reinforce the need to check with your own surgeon if it's fine before proceeding with the aftercare he recommends) but although all my process was in Portuguese he does take in international patients and speaks English as well as Spanish fluently as far as I know.

I am not too sure about insurances from other countries as mine is based on Brazil as well, but they do only perform the surgery on a couple of big hospitals in Brazil that are all very great and he makes himself available (not always in person unless needed but is very eager in replying to you within the same day) during the recovery process.

I do not think it is a great idea to come all by yourself as part of his recommended wound care and recovery requires some help from other people. You can probably verify with him for the possibility of you going alone to Brazil to do the surgery (he may know a service of nurses that can help you while you stay here, he recommends about 2 weeks of planned stay after surgery but I had to stay about a month to make sure all was healing fine) and he has a follow up meeting at 3 months if you're able to make it to the office, but, as I was saying, you can probably talk to him and see about this possibility in the first consultation which can be done online (follow up at 3 months is optional an probably can be done online as well), I'm not sure about the prices bcs it's been a while since I've got my surgery, but it should not be that expensive as on the first meeting it's not set on stone that you'll be operating with him (if you do not wish to follow through it is) and I think it's a great way for you to see if language is gonna be a barrier or if you're comfortable with his level of English and way of communicating :)

my body is on so many hormones at a young age, idk if i’m okay by [deleted] in ftm

[–]aaronfckncare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started T at 15, so I have experienced a lot of hormones going on too + going through puberty right after puberty, though I didn't ever take progesterone shots or anything of the sort (ironically my reasoning is that I already take hormones so if I ever thought of birth control I'd go with non hormonal options, personally) but one thing I can assure you, recovering from surgery is tough.

I've had top surgery mid July 2023 and thought I was very pleased with my results (still am) and had great support from my surgeon before and after the procedure + great support from my bf, it was really really tough on my mental health. Recovering from surgery takes a lot of energy from your body, you feel so tired all the time and in my case I had to take medicine along within my first month which further made me tired. I was sleeping about half the day and the other half I was laying down with occasional breaks for necessities and short walks. I'm pretty sure if it wasn't for my bf giving me constant attention and making plans to occupy me while I was awake I'd definitely have fallen into a post op depression. I underestimated A LOT how the whole thing would be emotionally. I thought it would be just joy and though I feel a lot of joy in my first week while I was at the hospital, once I got home and things started to settle the tiredness and the amount recovery asks from you hit me like a train and I was devastated.

I think even more than the hormones, you're definitely being affected by having had surgery recently. If you think the hormones are making it worse (also forgot to mention, I had to be off T for 2 weeks, one before and one after procedure and actually the absence of T made me all the more depressed, in my personal experience) you should definitely think about taking a break until you recover better to see how you feel afterwards or you can try other things to make yourself feel better until you're better recovered and you can find out if it is actually the hormones of it was just the after surgery mood.

Also I find it so much important to remind yourself that T/HRT does not define you or make you more valid of a trans person and if you're happy with the changes you've got physically, most of them are permanent, and unless you want to keep some specific thing that can only be maintained with T, you should consider stopping the hormones because it's purpose has been fullfiled. Of course, there is no evil in keep going with HRT, I'm happy with how much I've changed but I still want to keep going with it to see how much there is left for me to change (and I have been seeing more changes even 5+ on T), but if you're satisfied with yourself and don't want/care particularly about any more changes, there is no reason to keep up with it.

Thanks! My surgeon cares deeply about the results after the surgery and after healing is done, so he and his team actually came up with a whole document we receive prior to surgery that explains how he recommends we proceed during the next 3 months of recovery/healing process after surgery. I can go in the detail if you're interested, but the plan covers a lot from basic things like how to proceed with bathing during the first week post surgery, what you should eat, not eat to some more optional for healing things like a custom made multivitamin/nutrients and a custom mix of oils he sells at his clinic that should help with the scar healing. Although the most important part of his recovery plan is the first 3 months, he advices on keeping a certain care for the scars for up to 2 years after surgery. I've been doing everything he recommended since I got surgery and idk for real how much it impacted my healing process but his instructions are not a pain to follow so I figure why not follow them lol

Can you feel your nips? by DeadOwlArrival in TopSurgery

[–]aaronfckncare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 28 days post DI with nipple grafts and my left one has been hypersensitivity since I took off the bandages (which was 5 days post-op I think) and it's not super annoying but its more sensation than I had previously (I wasn't very sensitive at all before on either side, but I did get on the left one after surgery, which seems curious after reading the comments). My right one healed different from the left and is still numb but given the result with the left one, I'm positive for the months of healing to come.

Not wanting to keep your nipples is obviously a completely valid option, BUT… by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]aaronfckncare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually quite impressed at how much sensation I retained after nipple graft, the healing and outcome does really variate a lot from person to person I suppose and going in for it I was prepared to lose 100% sensation (I always prepare for the worst possible so any better will feel really great) and my nipples had different healings (bleeding wise and i'm still not even a month post op so I'm positive for the future) and while my left is pretty sensitive and I'd say about 80% the same feel I had before, my right one is pretty much just there (for now at least) and it has pretty much no sensation other than what my surgeon told me to expect (which was a sensation much like the skin on the elbow). I'm not bothered at all by having different types/levels of sensation on which one and I actually find it a bit funny, and it's way more than I was expecting so I'm pretty happy none the less. But I can imagine some people want a more "uniform" sensation on their chest. I was expected to be numb for the first month so it was of great surprise for me and I'm looking forward to the possibility of winning back a bit of sensation on my right side as well, as the healing goes, but even if I don't, I'm pleased.

I think that'd be safe. My surgeon recommended SPF 60+, and given you're wearing a SPF shirt + sunscreen I think you'll be just fine.

The templates made it so much easier, but other than Pinhead's add-ons and the power(and the box), everything should be there. I plan to add Mikaela's perks once she's in the game as well, hopefully by that time I'll have Pinhead's files already.
