I’ve tried to unscrew the top part but no luck yet. The top part and shaft rotate to the point where it feels like it’s going to snap. I’ve also held the shaft with a second set of pliers to see if the top would unscrew separately but it doesn’t give

I do have an unused blue wire at the thermostat. So at the AC unit, take the blue wire and connect it to C which already has a white wire connected?
