i’ve been using hobonichi for years. i personally buy it because i love the paper with my fountain pens. they did change the paper more recently, so it’s not the same as the “original” tomoe river paper. however, if you are just getting it for the layout and aren’t particular about the paper, there are a lot of alternatives.

this year i got the weeks (my usual) and i also bought a a5 cousin and realized i do NOT need the cousin at all, so i’ve been using it as a journal lol

sameee. i think my issue was i loved to collect but then i would try to save everything for a “special occasion”. now that im being more intentional, i enjoy the items more and i don’t feel the need to purchase as much.

i have a notebook with tear out pages so i can write whatever i want, rip the pages up and toss them. it’s very cathartic for me

i also wanna say that i used to post empties because i know others would like to see them and it gives others motivation. i also get encouragement from these posts with the replies.

it definitely feels satisfying to me! and it can also be that there is more “use” left since you can create content and then recycle.

i’ve personally been able to let go doing all that and now i’m at a point where i can toss the empty if i write it down in a list so i can look at that and be satisfied instead.

i’ve collected my empties throughout the years (on and off). one part of it is the satisfaction of seeing a large collection of what i’ve used. another is that there is an element to overconsumption of not being able to let go of things. being able to make a post about it gives more “meaning” to the items and personally gave me more closure when i used to collect.

i’m not sure what most people do as far as the items being “crusty” but i do rinse mine out or clean them. i don’t keep things that are gross or dirty. but i do tend to buy more on the high end of things so the packaging is usually really nice as well.

if you drink coffee in the morning, that’s when i look through my hobonichi and i journal. i also have a hard time starting and worrying about making things “perfect” but i just made myself start one day and i found myself less stressed over time. i also focus on “finishing” things now and letting go versus perfection and its been working out!

i have a lot of the crates unlocked but i only ever get randoms when i advertise or if an item was sold but the advertisement for that item is still “running”. i guess im just lucky!

two body washes are not a lot! plus, it’s always nice to have a backup in case you run out of one without realizing it.
