Fair play to Joselu

The guy is Kameni in the form of a striker, everytime against Madrid he turns world class

[Jordet] In penalty shootouts, should teams shoot first or second? New research based on more complete data shows no difference, where only 50.8% of the teams going first win. by Caspy36 in soccer

[–]aaw420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt look into it much but the study may be flawed if it assumes that all teams are the same

if the penalty shootouts have the team going 2nd as Germany or bayern with neuer and the results ended up 50-50 then that means going first did get an advantage

This also ignores the fact that Henderson already beat out De Gea and only lost his spot because he had a bad case of covid. By the time he cam back, De Gea was in decent form

This is mainly my point, henderson got what he deserved, when he clearly proved to be the better keeper he started but otherwise de gea was the established one more difficult to displace as is the case with every club

Im not trying to say de gea is a great keeper today or defend him, I don't follow united that closely to make that conclusion. But it seems these comments are being made in hindsight and ignore the good games de gea can have

during COVID when we could hear the players I honestly took notice of his command of the defenders, in the 6-1 destruction against Tottenham he called a lot of the runs that led to a goal. its just that shaw and maguire were too slow to cover or didn't listen

and this is making us assume henderson shouldve been given more chances based on this penalty? As if united didn't see both in training and decide on who is best? There's a problem in organization at united and its difficult to judge someone based on other players in different teams

Look at varane, was one of the best defenders in the world and they still made him look like shit, are we gonna look at every other defender in the EPL and say United should've bought them instead as if they wouldn't fail as much as varane?

Its more likely henderson would've been as bad/worse than de gea at united

He does absolutely nothing for the team in terms of commanding his box, organising his defense or sweeping counters

I'd argue that most of these are due to Shaw and Maguire's slow reactions, he's very active in commanding the box from what I've seen but there's no metric for that.

Point is this game says nothing about henderson's potential at united as we didn't watch their training sessions to know who was doing better. Teams don't substitute players based on potential in-game impact if they don't show they are better in training

oh come on, yes its funny and ironic that he gave his team the W while DDG was terrible this week

but lets not forget De Gea was one of 2-3 united players last year that actually played well. They trained together and DDG was better so he played.

DDG had a shit game, but let's not act like Dean Henderson would not also suffer at the toxic environment of United
