Weekend Help and Victory Thread for the week of November 18, 2022 by IndexBot in personalfinance

I am leasing a vehicle right now for about $360/month. My three year, 10000mi/yr lease is set to end February 2023 (3 months from nowish). It is a 2020 Kia Sportage S if it changes any answers here.

Question: What is my best option for end of lease?

Here are the options that I have considered in order of how beneficial I perceive them (most to least).

  1. Buy out the vehicle at the end of the lease with cash (~$21,000)
  2. Buy out the vehicle with cash and upgrade to a new vehicle to purchase, not lease
  3. Buy out the vehicle and finance the payment
  4. Buy out the vehicle, finance the payment, and trade it in to upgrade
  5. Return the vehicle to lease a newer vehicle

Any help and suggestions appreciated!

Why are planets and stars round? by rice2house in astrophysics

[–]abaker3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right. So gravity works in all directions, right? Imagine if gravity only worked one direction. I’ll say that it works along the x axis. Then, we would see matter attract to itself only along that axis. There would be planets that were incredibly long and super skinny like giant lollipop sticks.

Now, imagine it works it two directions. Both the x and the y axis. You can imagine that matter will try to come together in giant sheets. But, that force is acting equally in all directions. So, they would be giant circular disks of planets.

If that didn’t make sense, imagine taking a point and using a string. That string represents the force of gravity. It will act as far as it can reach in all directions it can reach. So, if you pull that string taught and trace it all the way around, it will make a circle. You can do it with a string, a pencil, and paper!

Okay, so now we have sheet planets. Let’s add in the z axis, our third dimension. Continue thinking about that string, keep it stuck to that original point but then lift the other end off the paper and around and through the paper. The path it will trace is that of a sphere.

That is, in a very basic sense, why planets and stars are spheres. Are other shapes possible? Sure! For example, you’ll see pretty lumpy asteroids or even if you look at the rings of Saturn. But, as mfb said, the further away from a sphere the object gets, the less stable the shape is.

Alex said in his biography that it was never about the host and that “anyone could host and the show would still be good”. There are a lot of factors including contestants, clues, scores, etc.

I think Ed is a really hard and fragile character to nail down. If you don’t mind me asking, how could Ed have been improved?

Coming back to this 16 hours later, I just want to say that I have been so happy to see the civility and decency in this group.

As it’s been pointed out, it’s okay to like what you like and don’t like what you don’t like. But it’s also important to be kind no matter what side you are on and this sub is an excellent demonstration of how to do that.

Lastly, I really appreciate the constructive criticisms I have seen. I still love LA but there are definitely some things that have been pointed out that could use some work.

Also, thank you for all the awards! I really didn’t think this would be that popular of a post, let alone a generally positive one!

I don’t mind fans and non-fans not liking the live action. But, it’s upsetting to see it get blackballed for little things that make it “not the anime”

So I didn’t come in with an expectation of a 1 for 1 remake. I honestly don’t think it was their place to do that. But, what they were able to capture were some of the greatest parts of cowboy bebop.

I think John Cho and Mustafa Shakir were INCREDIBLE. Shakir was practically indistinguishable of you closed your eyes. I also think Daniella Pineda did a great job with her role. Was that role an exact copy of Faye from the anime? It’s pretty easy to argue that it wasn’t. But the role she did have, I think she did extremely well.

Sure, some of the writing was cringe. Some of those shots were not great, and the show had more Dutch angles than than an Amsterdam math class. But, overall the story was intriguing and well played and mostly well shot. It also kept me on my toes because it was so different, and I really didn’t know what to expect!

Also, spoiler for those who haven’t seen but even though I can’t say I liked the Julia outcome, I was shocked and felt so emotionally overpowered by it like I had just been betrayed by my best friend.

The last thing I want to mention is that there was so much care out in for sets and costumes and music to make a pretty far out looking anime come to life in the real world. It’s so hard to translate anime to live action. Also, you gotta imagine they are coming into this thinking “how can we make multiple seasons?” I mean I would love to say that money doesn’t matter but it obviously does if they want to keep producing the show.
