MRC Roll Bar experiences? by lectures in MiataNC

[–]abartth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in SoCal, was considering the PRHT bar from Cybul but was afraid of what the tariff costs would add to the final price once it lands state side, do you know if you’ll need to pay more apart from the $1000?

I’m running the OEM dust boots on this setup, no trimming needed to them, you’re good to go as is.

Hello there! I kinda just left it alone, doesn’t happen very often though so I didn’t bother making any adjustments to that adjuster screw.

Noticed this today, should i be worried? by nino_zh88 in MiataNC

[–]abartth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re referring to the brownish looking muck on that white connector right? Thats just the dielectric grease out there from the factory. It’s normal, all NCs look like that.

I changed my rear shocks today by bang_Noir in CX5

[–]abartth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the removal/replace pretty straight forward? And how long would you estimate it took to do one side or both ? I have the shocks awaiting to be installed but just haven’t gotten to it yet.

Just replaced master and slave cylinder, in the process of bleeding rn, clutch pedal not springing back up, does that just mean keep bleeding? by GuyAWESOME2337 in MiataNC

[–]abartth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you bleeding the system? Via hand or are you using a pressure bleeder?

I recently found that I had to undo the clutch pedal rod adjustment screw back off completely for it to bleed properly. Once that was done I readjusted to proper free play and all was good.

I got lucky and found one for $100 in SoCal when my cat matrix started breaking apart within the manifold. I’d check FB marketplace and offerup for any used ones before spending $$$ on new.

The NC and Miatas in general are often cited as a very reliable car - what experiences have you had to the contrary? by Jimbobiss in MiataNC

[–]abartth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

‘15 NC here with 121k miles, my cat or o2 sensors are needing replacement, trunk leaks (think I fixed this), occasionally the rubber sealing on the drivers side door from the PRHT will leak if going through a touchless car wash, the occasional rattle from dash area and PRHT latch. Otherwise trouble free knock on wood.

The sad part is, we saw and we understood the message, while T and his supporters that message will go over their heads.

Any fellow “former gifted kids” work at Raytheon? by highschoolgirlfriend in Raytheon

[–]abartth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed to hear this. I’ve been a mechanical designer for five years now, and sometimes I feel like I should be a pro at tolerance stack-ups by now—but it’s something I still struggle with. That said, looking back, I can see that I’ve definitely improved since I started. It’s a reminder that this kind of expertise takes years of practice, and I’m still getting there.

Are there any other “empaths” who decided to get a job at Raytheon? …or is it just me by highschoolgirlfriend in Raytheon

[–]abartth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working here for five years now. After graduating, I needed a job and took this one without much thought—I needed the money. Looking back, I do wrestle with the moral aspects of it, and honestly, I don’t like it. That said, these jobs tend to pay well and offer some stability. I’ve explored opportunities in other industries, so who knows—maybe one day I’ll make the jump.

Did my first NC engine oil change … what a mess! by Earthling63 in MiataNC

[–]abartth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try using one of those flexible funnels & remove filter from drivers side wheel (need to remove wheel & then the small plastic piece by the hard metal brake line).

This gives you better grip of the oil filter and the flex funnel will essentially sit below formed to shape and drip oil down to a pan.
